Socrates says in a discussion one should try to convince himself not the other way around.

However, the id speaks for itself.
I also accept questions regarding philosophy, religion, and politics.

I rather suspect that the Progressive movement is based on Nihilism. What do you think?

Does that presuppose that they know what nihilism is? For instance, i have no idea what nihilism is... so maybe i am not a progressive? And frankly i doubt a small fraction of progressives could come close to defining nihilism..... which makes it seem dubious that they have based their views on a philosophy that they do not understand

    In any case
just now, i went to find out what is nihilism
And i find it stupid and inchoate
So now i am trying to figure out if i am not a progressive, or if you are incorrect about the progressive movement being based on nihilism

    Welcome.
Hopefully you have a better-than-average handle on the rules of logic.

The fact you/they may not recognize the tenets Nihilism in no way means you/they aren't Nihilists.

do you agree they are nihilists?
So far you have just said they may or may not be nihilists...
I guess i could retort that you may or may not be a pedo... we just don’t know. Perhaps we could discuss the evidence of attaching an accusation

Irrelevant to the point - I spoke to your supposition that you must be aware of (x) to exhibit or follow the tenets of (x).

So, if I understand your point correctly, you may be an “x” without understanding the tenets of “x”... correct?

It doesn't suppose that Progressives know what nihilism is. Very few people know where their ideas come from. Instead they regurgitate the sayings of long dead philosophers whose names they are ignorant of.

You can exhibit the tenets of (x) w/o being aware of the fact you exhibit the tenets of (x) - the fact you are ignorant of (x) does not in any way means your actions are not consistent with the tenets of (x).

That kind of presumes that any idea that anyone has derives from the first person who has that idea. Lets take the golden rule. Many people had this idea before jesus. Therefore, by your life gic, jesus was following long dead philosophers who came up with his ideas first

It is entirely possible that you came up with an idea on your own, and did so with no knowledge of the fact someone else had the same idea, previously -- thus it is entirely possible for you to be a Marxist w/o having any idea who Marx is.

Yes, but you have evaded the question
Does having some actions or thoughts that are consistent with x (x being nihilism or christianity). Does that mean that your actions are based upon x. (X being nihilism or Christianity)
THAT was the claim..., that progressivism is based on nihilism... a claim for which i see no evidence

    Your question was:
Does that presuppose that they know what nihilism is?
    Answer: No.

Not really, because taking marx as an example... marx had lots of ideas.... and virtually no one agrees with all of his ideas

If you want to follow an ideology, you have to understand the ideology. If you happen to have some similar ideas, that does not mean that you are following an ideology

You do not in any way have to be aware of Marxism to act according to its tenets.

    The possibility exists...?
The claim was that a large group of people (progressives). People who have a wide range of views, all have views that are fundamentally based on a single ideology, an ideology that we have tacitly agreed they are unfamiliar with
