Common usage is common usage. It is never "wrong". It's just... "common usage".. Which means that different people use terms colloquially in different ways It's useless to discuss what is the "common usage" of a term. In small talk, people use terms different ways, and there is no problem if they can communicate. But not in a debate setting. If we're going to talk about "racism", causes, solutions, consequences, .... we need a useful concept. The colloquial use of any term is useless in a debate.

In a colloquial conversation, one of my friends who is from Ecuador used to say that his car was racist because it worked perfectly when he drove it, but something always went wrong when any of his American friends tried to use it.

When you claim that there is no such thing as a race, it just clouds the issue and adds nothing to the debate. Just about everyone here recognizes race as an acceptable term.
