I finally experienced white privelege

That might have some merit except for that the fact that the righties never ever ever EVER EVER take racism seriously except when they whine about how they are the victims.

I’ll keep my eyes more open when my military son and his black/Hispanic wife are in town. My blonde headed 17 year old has a girlfriend who’s parents immigrated from Nigeria. I have noticed that people do a double take when they hold hands. She is very well spoken, a Christian, and her parents are well educated professionals. Out of all of his past girlfriends, I like this one best. I look forward to their saxophone duet during solo/ensemble competition later in the school year.

I live in what is considered a liberal area. But there aren't many black people. She felt VERY unwelcome here and wanted to move back to San Antonio. She said she was never really accepted here.

As big as San Antonio is, it's a military town. From what I've seen, racism is much less tolerated in the military. San Antonio leadership is liberal(Castro brothers), but the people are less so. Texas, being minority majority, is pretty accepting of any race in general. It goes against the narrative of "Red State Racism". I think my daughter in law seems to like my family more than her own in most ways.

 

I think a lot of it depends on exposure. There are very white areas on the West Coast. Hell, Oregon was founded as a white-only State. And the KKK had a HUGE presence there. Rural areas in the liberal West are anything but liberal. But more than that is the lack of exposure. For example, I have a buddy who grew up on a mountain and never saw a black person until he was over 18 years old.

 

Never ever ever EVER EVER? So if a single example of someone on the right taking racism seriously can be found, you will admit to being a liar? Or will it suddenly become, "well, hardly ever ever ever EVER EVER"?

I get checked on occasion. I’m usually just buying tennis balls or a toy. Can’t say I’ve ever been passed by while they check the black person next to me.

 

In each of the cities in the different states of Walmart’s I’ve been to? Yeah...don’t think so

 

If people are forming a line for some greeter to look at their receipts, I usually walk on by. They will stop me if they want, but I just finished waiting in a long line and don't intend to do it again. If they want to look at MY stuff, they can have enough people to do the job immediately.

Before the El Paso shooting, I wondered how open carrying would affect receipt checking, but I don't think I care enough to try it anymore.

My former co-worker was out with a friend one night in Queens.

They left a bar, and all of a sudden some cops pulled over, grabbed them, threw them to the ground.

One cop had his foot on my co-worker's neck on the ground.

They supposedly looked like some criminals the cops were looking for.

Unfortunately for the cops, my co-workers buddy was an Assistant District Attorney. When he announced this to the cops, they let them up and apologized for the excessive use of force.

One of the cops ending up getting fired for this incident.

Yes, white privilege does exist. Such an event would NEVER happen to me or any other white person hanging out at night in NYC. It simply would not happen. We are treated with a level of respect and courtesy that black men simply do not get. I've experienced it personally. When I am pulled over by police or questioned by cops, I am treated like their 2nd cousin.

i experienced just the opposite the other day. I needed to get another SS card so I went down to the Dept of Economic Security. I was standing in line and I had the feeling that everyone in that building was glaring at me saying "What the hell are you doing here whitey?"
