He should have sought advice from his predecessor, the founder of ISIS, Caliph Barack Hussein Obama.

Would you have cheered if Trump had doubled the number of troops?

This is about Erdogan. Like Merkel, he's no ally. Trump is right to force our so-called allies to step up.

As I have pointed out many times, the RP, like the DP stinks on ice. That is why there are so many Independents, Democrats and Republicans who support the populist outsider - Donald Trump.

The Bushes were very popular with almost all Americans until it became obvious that their war strategy could never achieve a final victory or deliver any lasting benefit to the US. When the WMD hoax was exposed The Bushes dropped to LBJ/Gulf of Tonkin levels of support.

Rather than criticize Trump for pulling the 50 American troops out of Syria give us a good reason why the 50 should stay. If there is a good reason then it should be easy to explain.

"Because the Kurds are our allies!"

Screech a bunch of people who don't know the difference between a Kurd and kumquat.

"We need to send more troops to the Middle East to kill Muslims, because the Orange Man is a Muslim-hating warmonger!"

    That pretty much explains it.

You specifically challenged me as to what the Washington Post got wrong in the opinion piece that you linked, and now you act like you never heard of it.

Figures. I actually tried to engage you in good faith by responding to your question, and you blew it off as is typical of the type of dishonest poster these kind of replies represent. So I can conclude that you just posted a typical piece of anti Trump hysteria and never had a single thought about the actual issue of a US presence in Syria. If Trump announced he was in favor of staying, you would have simply been against it.

    I agree.

The region is too complex. We should withdraw.

"We may be in the process of leaving Syria, but in no way have we Abandoned the Kurds, who are special people and wonderful fighters," Trump tweeted.

That is the way it is with Trump. Over 12,000 lies later (the Fact Checker’s database) black is white, day is night, retreat is advancing to the rear.

He then tries to explain himself in the face of heavy criticism from members of his own party. USA Today reports, "The White House stressed the decision was not a "withdrawal" of U.S. forces but a reassignment of a limited number of soldiers from Northern Syria to other parts of the beleaguered country."

Northern Syria is Kurdish-held territory. Northern Syria is the Turkish target to annihilate the Kurds and relocate four million Syrian refugees from Turkey.

Trump tweeted that "we are helping the Kurds financially/weapons!"

The militarily ignorant Trump doesn't understand that weapons and money are useless if the outnumbered, out-equipped Kurds are slaughtered by the Turkish army.

Soon, Trump will back down. Give it a few days. He needs to find someone to blame for his ludicrous decision.

That was a mistake. Too long on the computer.

What did I get wrong in the OP?

Here is another helpful source. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...licy-says-us-not-abandoning-kurds/3906231002/

In the United States, officials said Trump's withdrawal will trigger more fighting, pleasing Turkey, Russia, Iran and others who have their own designs for Syria.

"A precipitous withdrawal of U.S. forces from Syria would only benefit Russia, Iran, and the Assad regime," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell

Trump orders the abandonment of our ally, the Kurds. Betrayed by Trump and forced to fight a potentially bloody conflict with Turkey, the Kurdish-led forces will likely abandon any further effort to control ISIS. The U.S. troops in Syria will then be forced to withdraw entirely, which would be a major victory for Russia and open the way for Iran to entrench its forces along Israel’s northern border. U.S. allies around the world meanwhile will have reason to question whether they should cooperate with the Trump government that so casually abandons military partners.

“As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!),” Trump tweeted.

I have no idea why over 60 million Americans support Trump. I wonder if they know why. They don't support him very well. Trump's detractors walk all over Trump, and his fans say very little.

This may have something to do with intellectual capabilities and educational levels. We know that Trump's support comes from rural areas and states with small populations where opportunities for intellectual achievement are somewhat limited.

We also know that urban and suburban areas with a wide variety of schools and universities largely vote Democratic.

Israel has supported the Kurds in Turkey since 1952.. Lots of photos on the net of Kurds and Mossad. The trigger name is Barzani.. either Masoud or Mustapha.

Yes. It's too complex for Republicans. They should definitely withdraw and let responsible people handle the job.

This is becoming something like a "leitmotif".

An interesting premise and the very equal of that arrogant attitude with Hillary Clinton calling Trump supporters "deplorables". You saw where that got her. It sounds like you think of yourself as better than that group of Trump supporters. It is exactly that erudite attitude that we Trump supporters love to lap up when we make fun of the self proclaimed alt-leftie elites. (The underlined part of your post is mine as I choose to let the entire pile of garbage be left out to air.)
So tell us sandy, are you in favor of the US remaining in the Middle East or removing ourselves from conflicts that we should never have been in the first place and now that a president has the balls to put that out there in front of everybody and he has an "r" in front of his chosen party, you cannot lower yourself to agree with him?

So you're not even going to respond to my critique of the Washington Post editorial? You're just moving on to the next nonsense?

    Sheesh.

You seen to have forgotten what the Democrats did to the middle east during the 8 years of the Obama administration. It's a bipartisan stupidity that no party has shown much wisdom or intelligence to deal with property. Avoiding ridiculous entanglements there is the smartest thing we could do.

There are just about 1,000 American troops in Syria now, but they are supporting a critical ally in the U.S. fight against ISIS: the Syrian Democratic Forces, which includes some 60,000 Christian, Arab and Kurdish fighters.

This is the same Sandy Shanks who created a thread with a title similar to “The U.S. should get out of the Middle East”.
