The history of human zoos is actually pretty complex ---- and absolutely not limited to blacks. A probable explanation for why there weren't any African zoos exhibiting white people is because they simply didn't have the money for frivolities like zoos. It was the wealthier cultures which could afford to have "zoos" to begin with, and they usually exhibited non-whites only because most people attending the zoos would be white. White people wouldn't be curious to see how their neighbors lived, but they might be curious about people from Africa or the Philippines or Eskimos or whatever. The circus "freak shows" also had a connection to "human zoos". If I remember correctly one of the noteworthy "human zoos" was whatshisname in Mexico (Montezuma?) You could even sort of argue that some of those dumb MTV reality shows are kind of like modern "human zoos".
