I don't think they should be labeled arsonists to suit the agenda of the climate change denier trolls.
Arson is the deliberate starting of fires. Any attempt to call pointing that out semantics is transparently dishonest.

 

Don't know how good your maths is but 24 is not the same as nearly 200.

 

I don't believe those are labelled arsonists but until it's all sorted we just won't know. On the other hand it could well be argued if you go out and light your barbecue on a day when you know NO naked flames are allowed that you could well be committing arson.

No actually - the reported "183" SPECIFIC to NSW, is "bushfire related offences." However, "183" is also the figure being thrown around as the total number of arson offenses Australia wide, including by The Australian in this article: https://www.theaustralian.com.au/na...3/news-story/52536dc9ca9bb87b7c76d36ed1acf53f. In this article, it breaks down the arson arrest figures for each state. When I added them up, I got 173, not 183. So my guess is that someone mixed up 183 and 173 given the common third digit of "3." There's alot of figures out there and I can understand how people are getting confused. I've spent the past 30 minutes trying to get my head around them.

According to The Australian, “Police arrested 183 people for lighting bushfires across Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania in the past few months. NSW police data shows 183 people have been charged or cautioned for bushfire-related offences since November 8, and 24 arrested for deliberately starting bushfires.”

That’s 183 people who have been arrested for arson, resulting in catastrophic bushfires, displacement, property loss, and deaths of both people and animals.

 

I'm not arguing that accidental fires started by BBQs aren't irresponsible and illegal but they are not arson.
Trolls trying to suggest that fires are being started deliberately to push the climate change agenda is fake news aimed at discrediting climate change activists.
