It's a soft coup by the executive branch. They're telling the Legislative to get out of the way and shut up, and are basically claiming full powers of war in this country. This is what we get with a dictator in the White House and the erosion of Congress's powers, in particular the surrender of war powers in the wake of 9/11.

Thoughts? My thoughts are that Congress couldn't pull a wet string out of a cat's ass and those arrogant SOB's think the Commander in Chief needs to clear every military move with them? Wrong. It's called separation of powers. Congress can declare war if they want to but that means 250K troops going to war with Iran. Or they can bitch and moan about Trump because that's all they do. They can't even impeach him right. Mike Pence tried to brief Queen Nancy but that worthless bitch wouldn't take his call because she was busy getting sauced at a local swanky restaurant.

A U.S. Embassy being attacked is more than reason enough to pop a shitbag terrorist. Namely a terrorist even according to Hussein Obama.

The military is established to prevent insurrection and invasions....which is exactly what the attack on the Embassy and U.S. contractors was.

If Congress doesn't like it, they're welcome to dismantle the military they created. Let's see how that works. Or go ahead and impeach Trump for killing a terrorist that has killed at least 600 Americans. Good luck getting re-elected swampers.

And again we have a progressive taking the side of the world’s leading nation state in domestic and global terrorism and the psychopath who implemented the killing of hundreds of thousands of innocent people. Can’t make this up.

I didn't know we terrorized anyone but the dead enemy combatant. If an enemy aims a gun, or plan to aim a gun at our nation, well, I can't say there's good to even odds they won't live to tell the tale.

Convince me that there won't be someone else ready to fill this guys smoking shoes? Literally the only way to deal with these people is to wipe away their fanatical culture or walk away

Interesting, but those weren't Iranians outside our embassy, those were Iraqis. We can blame it on Iran if we please, but the fact of the matter is our presence in Iraq is not popular among the locals, which is also why the vote in the Iraqi parliament to expel our military presence was unanimous. I would also argue that the assassination Solemani puts our troops at greater risk, while what happened at our embassy was very serious, it is worth noting that no one on our side was harmed or injured. If what happened at our embassy is our reason for assassinating Solemani, it's a pretty lousy one, and one that also fails to address the issue we are facing among the Iraqi populous

@ModCon Do you ever feel like you're living in that movie "Idiocracy"? The last 3 years have been telling.

Trump has acted unilaterally to ferment a war, sent out contradiction after contradiction and you think that is a mark of competence?

It really doesn't matter though, does it? Did he orchestrate the attacks against the embassy? All evidence indicates yes. Did he orchestrate prior attacks against Americans? All evidence is yes. The SOB deserved to die, and the moment Iranian forces broached Iraqi territory, it was up to the US-Iraqi forces to defend themselves.

The long-term concern, is that Iraqi forces are incapable and while US forces will oblige by the Iraqi request, don't be so naive as to think Iran will do the same.

I am pretty sure he got an earful from McConnell, which is why he backed down like a little bitch. That, or he had an "OHSHIT" moment when he realized that every single one of his properties was a potential target.

That's factually wrong. This series of events was set off by Iranian backed militias who take their orders from Iran.

If an Iranian targeted ANY US property or territory, it would be an all-out war, and it would be justified. The President was justified in all of his actions, in my view.

You're missing my point. Trump is a "business genius" before he is POTUS. The first thing I thought when the assassination was announced was how I am never going to set foot on a Trump property anywhere in the world. If I thought it, so did thousands of others. I mean, come on, the idiot is so egotistical he puts his name in gold on all his properties. And when you start assassinating people, those people may decide that those properties are justified targets.

That is the problem with a "businessman president" who refused to divest himself from his companies. Everything he owns is now a target. I don't have any great respect for his intellect, but he darn sure connected those dots.

Might want to rewrite this one. Attacking "after the fact", kinda suggests something happened prior to the attacking. Like knowing?

Y'all are getting all tangled up in the attempt to project something, anything, in an unflattering light. It's interesting to watch the magic light show but it's dim, out of focus and vignetting around the edges. Maybe a couple more prisms and a few mirrors would help? Doesn't matter, what you are attempting to show is just artifact from your own devices. I wan't my money back, the lady at the front of the tent said I'd be dazzled.

Is the dog and pony show in here next? It must be cause I can smell the **** from here.

Wow, a unified field theory about all things Trump. Unified field theory, in particle physics, an attempt to describe all fundamental forces and the relationships between elementary particles in terms of a single theoretical framework. Eh, it needs work, but I admire the effort.

    Cheers

Zero American casualties zero Americans wounded. That’s all we need to be briefed on.
