    Where did I do that?
I said it was ''pathetic really''.
    ie worthy of pity.
Feeling empathy towards someone is not an ad hom as far as I'm aware.

Of course the above is a personal attack.

Well, accusations of expressing sympathy came out of left field.
    I didn't predict that tactic.
Lucky for me that you didn't take the wager.

The IPCC does not predict anymore severe or frequent droughts due to global warming. And there is no evidence to support that there has been an increase. The small amount of global warming we have experienced since the earth began to warm after the end of the Little Ice Age in the mid 1800's does not account for the localized high temperatures seen periodically across the globe.

Feeling pity for someone who doesn't agree with you is not a personal attack. Interesting. Let's see what the moderators think about that.

Oh please do. I'm sure they need a laugh every now and then.
It was sympathy towards their lack of debating skill not whether they agreed with me btw.
It's all there in my post, there's no need to misrepresent my words.

Lets try it in a sentence to see if it counts as a personal attack.

''I feel sympathy towards the passengers of the plane shot down in Iran, their plight was pathetic''

In this fever dream, are you saying that somehow australia is burning down because everybody suddenly decided to do it on purpose for no reason?

Why didn't al qaeda think of this ten years ago??

I don’t know about all that...

“The top four hottest years have been among the last four, 2015-2018, driven by increased emissions of heat-trapping carbon dioxide (CO2)—which have also reached record levels, according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The Earth’s climate has been warmer than the 20th Century averageover the last 406 consecutive months. That means no one under the age of 32 has ever experienced a cooler-than-average month.”

I don't think that it is their argument that "these hotter, drier [climate] produced any of this fuel that is now burning." From what I can tell, it is that the hotter, drier climate makes it easier for fire to spread. And that's certainly possible, but I would want to see the evidence for it. So far, nothing has been presented in the thread as far as I'm aware.

OK. It's a belief system, or maybe a philosophy.

Everybody knows that he climate changes. That is no reason to turn it into a religion. I honestly believe that the religionists would do less damage if they believed in any god, rather than this demented idiocy.

How, for example, does transferring wealth from the USA to India and China change the climate? It's nuts!

Do you think all of the scientists who have agreed that their data leads to the conclusion that human emissions have led to unnatural increase in global temperatures didn't know that there is variability in the climate?

Well correlation is not causation. Do we even know if dipoles are caused by co2 emissions? If not, then it's the type of climate change that we can't do anything about, so it would be pointless discussing it. I would want to know how common these dipoles are so that I can be convinced that it hasn't just been a coincidence that they have preceded "all the major bushfires in southeastern Australia" and the 1997 bushfire in Indonesia. I would also want a list of all of these southeastern Australia bushfires other than 2009 and 2019/20. So this could be the beginning of some very interesting research, but let's not jump to any conclusions.

It was warmer 1000 years ago.

And there is no proof that human CO2 emissions are responsible for global warming we are experiencing in the current warm period.

Also there is nothing politically possible to reduce significantly the rate of increase of CO2 emissions.
