As a non-partisan, I saw the SOTU address as a declaration of war...

    ...and an acceptance as well.

I kept repeating to my wife, "Trump is just egging the Democrats on!"

The most egregious? Giving the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh in the house chamber controlled by the Democratic party. They hate Limbaugh, and I can't blame them.

Lots of other things too, especially the healthcare commentary, but Limbaugh was the worst of it.

Until Nancy could no longer contain herself, and knowing the Trump will be acquitted the next day, she ripped it in half in impotent frustration.

There was speculation it was in defiance to the other house Democrats, empasizing "I warned you what would happen if we impeached." like a mother scolding her children in public. but I don't think so.

It has been a tough week so far, and the rest of it doesn't appear to be getting better either.

It has been a quite war for as long as I can remember but ramps up after each election.
During Obama and the “party of no”, numerous unfounded allegations and investigations plus the SCOTUS fiasco it became apparent the right had escalated the conflict, with the election of trump it became a full fledged war along with virtually partisan party line votes on every topic — and I have never seen the country more divided (and I thought it was bad under Obama.

I don’t know how we — as a nation — can recover from this.

Trump's military tactics were mostly bombarding the Democrats with the successes of the country and its people. They have no defense against that and hate it with a passion.

Trump faced down his accusers and hit an 850 footer out of the park.

There's been an unsuccessful Mockingbird Marxist Media (communications arm of the DNC) war against Trump for 1696 days, that is, since June 15, 2015, and Trump had his say last night, and he was fabulous, absolutely outstanding.

Last night Trump took on the dems, the lefties, the socialist, the MSM, and kicked all their arses. There is no way the dems can compete with him at the ballot box.

    Successes like this?

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckj...deficits-are-racing-past-obamas/#4936c3bb4819

Trump’s Budget Deficits Could Almost Double Obama’s
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckj...cits-could-almost-double-obamas/#31975af97693

Using the May 2019 deficit estimates from the CBO, adding the budget deal and assuming a 3% increase in the amount of additional deficits in fiscal 2022 Trump’s deficits will be just shy of $1 trillion next year and over that figure going forward.

    • Fiscal 2017: $665 billion (Trump’s first year of his Presidency)
    • Fiscal 2018: $779 billion (9 months of tax cuts being in effect)
    • Fiscal 2019: $896 billion
    • Fiscal 2020: $990 billion
    • Fiscal 2021: $1,092 billion
    • Fiscal 2022: $1,250 billion

Rewarding a lying sack of shyte like Limbaugh with a prestigious medal because he lies in order to misinform people about the Groper-in-Chief cheapens it to no end and reveals perfectly what Baby Donald's priorities are.

This year will be a new low for Trump because, i his mind, he has been exonerated of all wrong doing. he will try to forget he was impeached for the crimes abuse of power and contempt of Congress. HIs acidic SOTU was just a confirmation that Trump and his party have declared war on decent Americans that really do read and understand the Constitution and law and order.

I would bet my first born that before November, Trump will commit a heinous act or two. That won't shake his followers (nothing will) but as an Independent I know he has only a small minority representation in my non-party.

What a pile of horse crap. But the I expect Democrats and leftists to belief the factually untrue crap to which Limbaugh is the much needed counter.

I think a lot of Trump haters would actually sacrifice their first born for him to do something which is actually illegal and impeachable.

Spending is on Congress. We have deficits because of spending.

Does this mean that you have accepted Trump's inevitable win this year and will indeed still be President in 2022?

No more egregious than Democrats egging on a country populated largely by patriotic Americans by selecting Nancy Pelosi as Speaker.

    You forgot a few years.
    • 2012 - $1.1 trillion budget deficit
    • 2011 - $1.3 trillion budget deficit
    • 2010 - $1.3 trillion budget deficit
    • 2009 - $1.4 trillion budget deficit
Obama downsized the deficit by destroying our military ,,,, giving international waters to China to build militarized islands ,,,, giving Crimea to Russia ,,, cancelling missile defense ,,, giving the entire middle east to Iran ,,,,

I stopped watching the SOTU for good, sometime during Obama's reign.

Rush Limbaugh got a medal of freedom? Yikes, blech, huh? He should get kudos for what he's accomplished, but he's done nothing related to advancing the case for liberty, IMO. He has created an entire sub-category of the population who proudly call themselves ditto-heads. "Yup, I parrot whatever Rush tells me to say! It's so awesome to not have to think!!!"

In addition to educating 15M viewers weekly and predicting every underhanded move of radical leftists weeks and months in advance, Rush facilitated a contribution of $5M to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation that pays off the mortgages held by families of fallen first responders and military heroes. He didn't need to do that any more than Trump needed to donate his salary and foreign profits to the country. Rush deserved the recognition.

Hmmm...the success of the Wall, the China policy, the new NAFTA, the denuclearization of North Korea, and his foreign policy in general are still TBD. His two basic accomplishments are the tax cuts and prison reform. The award to Limbaugh, the promotion of the Tuskegee Airmen Colonel, the return of the soldier from Afghanistan, the call for $50 million for research into premature births, the scholarship, etc. were basically acts of showmanship and a campaign speech. Easy applause lines. Interestingly, he didn't talk much about further tax cuts or entitlement cuts, or the return of the coal industry or manufacturing (other than a mention of the auto industry in conjunction with the new NAFTA, which is still TBD). He talked about minimum wage increases, but much of that has come through local urban politics and the $15/hr. minimum. And, he didn't talk about his past promises of a 3%+ GDP growth rate.
Perhaps, the most notable theme...was his emphasis on African-Americans...the low unemployment rate, the promotion of the Colonel, the scholarship...all, no doubt deserving, but also obvious moves to capture more of the African-American vote. In 2016, many stayed at home, rather than turn out to vote for Clinton. This time around, he wants to build on that and have them turn-out for him.
His best chance for re-election remains the incompetence of the DNC.

New low for Trump? More success and prosperity and full unemployment for the American people? Hmm. Yeah I think I can live with that.

It's the president's choice, of course, but I personally don't think uber-wealthy people donating a small amount of their money to a worthy cause is a good reason to get a medal of freedom. I think most people, including us, donate money to charity. I'm not saying 5 million is a small amount; it's a small amount to Rush.

First, that never what Ditto-Head meant. Second, Rush was the first Right of Center personality to fight back against what was at the time nearly 100% of leftist control of the nation's media outlets. Third, he never allowed the increasingly hate-filled political Left to shut down his voice. Yep he deserves the Medal of Freedom a great deal more than most of the people who Obama selected over the years.
