And that's not included the stuff Trump and Larry Kudlow were saying just a couple days ago.

If that's the case then how do you know Trump is wrong? Your personal opinion doesn't hold any water.

 

And what if there isn't an outbreak - is the CDC going to look bad if it doesn't really take hold here?

I'm not expecting an outbreak in this country, either, but unlike many people here I don't possess a crystal ball and can't predict the future.

 

You want proof that it is spreading? How far away is China or Italy? In Italy some whole towns have been quarantined - that is quite disruptive

contradiction: deny the truth of (a statement) by asserting the opposite.

Maybe, maybe not is not a contradiction. You're reaching, and you're reaching hard. You need to pump the brakes on that insatiable hatred.

 

Could they keep the truth "secret" in todays instant media world? Pretty big spotlight on this right now, be kinda hard to hide the truth for long.

The CDC will look bad if there's no outbreak. Trump will crow about it from now to election day. People will be so happy, they won't care the CDC completely blew it (until later).

But that looks really really improbable. If the CDC says this thing is going to spread here, it's going to spread here. And like I said, it's not like we're different than the other countries that are dealing with it.

It would be exceedingly odd if this thing affects everyone adversely EXCEPT us, wouldn't it? The far more likelier scenario is we're just like everyone else, we have crowded cities, like everyone else, lots of poor people, LOTS of old people (LOTS of old people who have compromised immune systems), and we don't have universal healthcare.

But to everyone who thinks this is the libs hating on Trump (or some other such nonsense): go buy stock. The market is tanking. If you really think this is panic-selling, start buying.

 

So again, your argument is that the CDC, Italy, Japan, S. Korea, China, market traders, etc. are all over-reacting. The only person under-reacting is Trump.

It's always something. A couple of years ago, our imminent doom would be global warming because Trump wasn't paying trillions to stop it and would be dead in 12 years. Then we were gonna be in a nuclear world war because Trump had Salami killed, and now we're going to be killed by the coronavirus because Trump "contradicted" the CDC.

And then, there are those in this thread who clearly have no understanding of exponential growth, and how the math works in the spread of viruses. Of course, they think everything is fine and dandy. Trump said so, it must be true, and he knows more than the infectious disease experts.
