This is how Democrats combat the disease? Calling the Chinese Coronavirus racist is prolly not going to work.

I guess the medical experts at Johns Hopkins are being racist by splitting out the geographic of the China virus on their tracker. They should immediately replace the word "China" with "That country over yonder".

    upload_2020-3-12_10-19-41.png

They should also delete the graph separating the spread of the China virus where they show China separately from the rest of the world.

    upload_2020-3-12_10-20-47.png

Take down the big red circle over China too! Racist! Racist! Racist!!!

So back this up a bit. The virus is thought to have come form bats based on testing of the virus that matched virus found on bats or in caves inhabited by these bats. What's not proven or known is how it made it's way from bats to humans.

Whether or not it's racist to call it Chinese cornovirus, I don't know, but I fail to see the point of identifying where it came from. How does that change the result or outcome? What's the point of doing so? Do you have one? I mean, we don't call mad cow disease British mad cow disease, do we? Because I would fail to see the point of that either given it's origin has nothing to do with how the disease is spread amongst cattle.

So your complaint is what? Because "FEELZ"??..... got it. I will probably continue to term it Wuhan Flu because, that's where it was manufactured.

I have no complaint, I asked a question, what is the purpose of stating where the virus originated? You haven't answered that. Why does it matter? How does it help inform people and keep them from getting it given the virus is now in the US and many other countries?

Manufactured? Oh I get it now...anyway, I also hear the Mason were making COVID-19 too!!!!! :D

No, but this is about data. The virus is not named after or for China. So I ask the question, why wouldn't you just call it COVID-19? That's it's name. So again, what's the intent or purpose? No one disputes it originated in China or the most cases so far have been there. How is that relevant to providing people information on how to stay healthy?

It became generically named by WHO and epidemiologists because the zoonotic vector hasn't been determined or doesn't exist.

Were it housed in Mongolian horse hybrids then assvirus might have been cute, but it defaulted to geographic region, like Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome. MERS.

The name has been cleansed. Strange.

Simply because most people speak to communicate clearly and saying "Chinese coronavirus" is broadly understood, and has been frequently used by people, including by people who work for CNN/MSNBC...until some super-sensitive partisan(s) "Shushed" them because of politics. Anyone who thinks Keven McCarthy Tweeted "Chinese coronavirus" to indicate any racist intentions against Asian people must be a Democrat.

It's pretty stupid that we even have to have this conversation. Thank Ilhan! Thanks Nancy!

Biden and Mao have nothing to do with it. A virus is no respecter of persons. Somebody did something like stacking civet cats five high in the Wuhan Wet Market and they shet and frothed all over each other mutating a virus before being butchered for customers on the spot.

Omar just married the guy she was funneling campaign money to. Guess he won't be testifying against her any time soon.

So, in your opinion, did her impending marriage affect the timing of her statement about McCarthy?

If not, then why would something like that be relevant to the thread topic?

It goes to her credibility. She married the guy she denied having an affair with after sending a few hundred thou his way for 'campaign work.' And that was after she married her brother in order to gain entry into this country.

if you think about it, it just takes one Coronavirus germ to start a pandemic, which is kinda similar to what Omar is doing.

It’s the typical lack of maturity exhibited by our right wing. You’d have to ask Kevin why he used the term rather than the virus name COVID-19.

Although it’s in vogue to be offensive on the right. So I suspect he was trying to score political points, widen the divide in the country, cement the notion he’s part the problem.

Division for the sake of division.

Maybe you should do your homework before you climb up on your soapbox.

The swine flu started in Mexico.

They have yet to find the cause of the virus and some reports say it may come from a Chinese lab.

Calling an unknown virus that started in China the Chinese virus, is not racist.
