Good god the lunacy that its somehow offensive to mention the country of ORGIN is beyond immature and the Word China doesn't in anyway widen the divide in the country for anyone not a hyper partisan liberal that offended by everything from toothpaste to SUVs.

Why would they call it the US virus when it started in Mexico?

    https://virologyj.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1743-422X-6-207

Hypothetically.... how many of the billions of people in China do you think would be outraged it they did call it the Mexican virus?

I bet you could count them on 1 hand without even counting the thumb.

No, I wouldn't. Some people seek outrage over very little though.

Sure, why not? I doubt Senator Mitch McConnell, or any other Republican congressman, would have Tweeted any faux outrage over it.

that's true, still if some foreigner calling it US swine flu, I wont like it. there were some people calling it US pig virus too. my opinion is just call the virus name not the origin. cause who knows where the next pandemic gonna originate at.

    Owned by American?
It didn’t start in America, it started in Mexico.

The FDA has no control over what happens in Mexico.

China is now trying to blame the Wuhan flu on America.....

    What are my feelings......:roflol:
I just laughed - apply a little common sense now and then.

People like Ilhan Omar “the women who married her brother” call everything racist that they don’t agree with.

They didn’t have to follow FDA guidelines in Mexico, so it started in Mexico and they employed Mexicans.

I've seen headlines that racial slurs against Asians have increased since the virus broke out. The vast majority of Americans, regardless of party, would say that is awful. The political correctness of the left is ridiculous though.

People who are not racists are not going to turn into racists even if everyone in the country called the outbreak the "Chinese Virus".

People who are racists are not going to stop being racists even if no one from this day forward calls it the "Chinese Virus".

Democrats have overused the word "racist" so often for purely political attacks that they have significantly diluted it's meaning.

Scientists are always going to look for the origin of a new disease. Naming a disease for the place of origin seems perfectly legitimate to me, and not the least bit "racist", but then I don't buy into all the "political correct" nonsense happening today where descriptive words are deemed "racist".

    Link on what?

    Apply a little common sense....
There is a reason the plant is in Mexico and not in America.

    Cheaper labor
    Less regulations
    No FDA plant inspections.

Now if you want to agree with Ilhan Omar, that is your choice.

Even the liberal USA Today agrees it is not racist to call it the Chinese virus.

Calling it (COVID-19) the "Coronavirus" is proper and sufficient. Adding superfluous modifiers, whatever the covert agenda, is unnecessary.

The verbal redundancy is akin to always distinguishing the "Australian kangaroo":whenever one speaks of the kangaroo.(Macropus Giganteus)

So what your saying is that it is not politically correct.

    What is these days?

    But it is not racist.

Anyone can speculate concerning the motivation of insinuating an unneeded ethnic reference into the designation.

"Coronavirus" is all that is required, as is used by everyone without a covert agenda.

Ethnic groups exist in the geographic location known as China, and Wuhan, but they are not all Han...

Sure...., but it doesn’t ignore the fact that saying Chinese virus is not racist.

It is not politically correct, but it is also not racist.

the reason the went to mexio is same as other outsourcing, cheap labor. if you ok been ppl calling US swine flu, then i'm sure they are ok with been call Chinese virus. and if there is outbreak from Smithfield pork, which is own by china but operate in US, is it US virus or china virus now?

now I don't think is racist but its inconsiderate or insensitive or politically incorrect.
