He said travel restrictions would not be enough to combat the virus. That’s not an attack on the restrictions. It’s saying they are not, on their own, enough. He was right.

Pointing to Trump’s record of xenophobia is not an attack on the travel restrictions. It was a caution for Trump not to respond in a xenophobic manner, which Trump promptly did by calling it the China virus.

It’s obvious you have received your talking points from the RW NJ echo chamber and it looks as if you have swallowed the lies hook, line and sinker.

I've already explained it. First - he isn't talking about the travel restrictions at all. He doesn't mention them at that point.

He is saying that when a pandemic strikes, it is not the time to be xenophobic. It was a caution to Trump. And Trump promptly ignored that caution and WAS xenophobic by calling the virus the "China virus" rather than its proper name or something neutral.

By your logic, Trump said that neo-nazis and racists are "good people" because he said "there are good people on both sides".

That is a name that you gave it. It’s not the official name of the virus and attaching “China” is exactly the kind of xenophobia that Biden was warning against.
Biden did not say or even imply that the travel restrictions were xenophobic. He warned Trump not to fall back on his record of xenophobia in dealing with the virus and you’re right it didn’t help because Trump did react in a xenophobic way by calling it the China virus.

What harm is there to call things what they are? I do not care about hurt feelings during a pandemic. Sometimes you just gotta call things what they are. The virus originated in China, this is a fact.
