There will never be racial equality if the left keeps treating minorities like charity cases.

The very first and absolutely immutable rule of Democrat Party politics is this. It is never, ever our fault, but a fiendish plot by a Republican. Rule 2: always look nice for your booking photo.

For what happens in their own cities, yes. But I never said they were the only ones enforcing drug laws. Obviously, Republican governments enforce them as well. But that doesn't absolve Democrats of responsibility for what happens in their own cities.

Both parties have no interest in changing drug laws.

Here are two things that will never solve our problems:

    1) Useless platitudes about unity

    2) Refusing to identify who and what is responsible for the problems in our cities

Neither one of them are going to solve issues like this:

From the wild Irish slums of the 19th-century Eastern seaboard, to the riot-torn suburbs of Los Angeles, there is one unmistakable lesson in American history: a community that allows large numbers of young men to grow up in broken families, dominated by women, never acquiring any stable relationship to male authority, never acquiring any set of rational expectations about the future--that community asks for and gets chaos. Crime, violence, unrest, disorder -- most particularly the furious, unrestrained lashing out at the whole social structure -- that is not only to be expected; it is very near to inevitable.

Democrats didn't want to listen to Daniel Patrick Moynihan in 1965 and today they don't want even want to to talk about these problems much less solve them, and all your pearl-clutching about "division and blame" isn't going to suddenly force them to acknowledge the devastating failures of their social welfare programs and work with others to correct their mistakes. People on the Right have been talking about these problems for years and are willing to address them but we don't have a partner in the Democratic Party to work with because Dems made a decision a long time ago that it is not in their interest to do so. They'd rather fight us than work with us, so the problems remain unsolved, and as long as they possess a monopoly of power in our nation's cities things are going to stay the way they are, no matter how bad things get.

There are few cities that are purely Red or Blue. When Gov't /Police have no respect for essential liberty - what does this teach the Children - who then grow up to be adults ?

I didn't ask whether you did or not. I asked whether you agree with the premise that the violence is due to anarchists. I also asked whether instead you acknowledge that police brutality is a key driver of violence.

In this thread you've gone off on one though! You've blamed the Dems, ironically suggesting that good local government could eliminate social ills (with government planning utopia hypothetically then possible).

Why pander to right wingers when we already know fascism is the problem?

State oppression in general is a key driver of violence.

I'm sure some of the violence is due to self-described anarchists. I'm also sure that some of the violence is due to non-anarchists.

Can at least one liberal here admit you now understand that you were wrong about gun control?

Because they are primarily responsible for what happens in the cities they govern. So what's wrong with holding politicians accountable for their failures?

I blame them because they're in political control of the cities in question.

Why is that ironic? I've always been an advocate for political decentralization.

I'm opposed to both the "left" and "right" wings. I take time to criticize them both. Today, I'm focusing on the "left" wing. A week from now, I may be back to criticizing the "right" wing. But you can rest assured that my criticisms will always have a firm basis in principle.

The cities have their own means of raising revenue. If they need more money they can raise their taxes and fees.

I don't have to answer a question just because it was asked.

And I'm not sure how it's "nitpicking" to state a simple fact: Major US cities like Minneapolis, Chicago, etc., are dominated by Democrats and have been for years.

Now I'm wondering why you have such a problem with me pointing that out.
