Dude if they control all three branches they can do anything they want including impeach Trump appointed judges and replace them with the craziest available leftists. The only reason Kavanaugh is a supreme court justice is because they over played their hand badly and scared the hell out of a few neocons.

Even the new norm will eventually decay and disappear. We still operate with elections and elections represent the will of the people - at least the will of those people who vote. Whosoever convinces people to elect them get elected. It is the American way. My hope is that we will get through the election and maintain congressional gridlock. Anything that shuts down partisan legislation is a good thing.

 

You are operating under the assumption that the Democrats would honor the Constitution. If they ever control all three branches it's game over for America and the Constitution. This is not your grandfather's Democrat party, these are evil power lusting people who don't give a flying fig for democracy, the Constitution or the rule of law. Obama clearly stated that they were going to fundamentally change America, the definition of fundamental is a central or primary rule or principle on which something is based. He was talking about the Constitution. Obama had both houses but lacked the SCOTUS and that was a great stumbling block for him but he did manage to buy John Roberts vote on the ACA, the worst piece of progressive garbage ever to be foisted on America. We were at the edge of the abyss and Hillary Clinton seemed to be poised to bulldoze us into it. That is exactly the reason Donald Trump got elected. Look what these people did to him for all four years of his presidency and how the media has already tried to erase that from the American psyche and how they are attacking Barr now because he's got the goods on them. When you wake up some morning and America looks like Venezuela maybe then you'll understand. History has shown us that when nations fall it isn't to some overwhelming military action it is to willful ignorance and complacency, that is what the Democrats are banking on.

 

Ignoring the hyperbole, partisan politics and chaos are nothing new. Both sides practice these, and both sides scream "they're coming to get us" when losing an election.

The goal should be a return to deal-making, compromise and reaching across the aisle. It takes both parties to accomplish this. The majority needs to offer an olive branch, and the minority needs to accept it. That's how a civilized people govern themselves.

I agree with a return to normalcy but I'm afraid what we are witnessing now is the new normal. Every time the Marxist/Progressive/Democrats feel they are losing they ratchet up the crazy stuff like the black community's response to George Floyd's death. The Dem's game is like the guy who goes into a bar, get's the whole place brawling and promptly leaves. They agitate, radicalize and finance small demonstrations that then take on a life of their own, then every aged hippy and other crazoids come out of the woodwork next thing you know these a-holes are storming the White House. Tip O'Neill was a bona fide Democrat from times when the differences between parties were only a few and bi-partisanship was the way things got done. Then, things got settled over a few beers, cigars and sometimes the flip of a coin. Both Reagan and O'Neill would have issues with the present Democrat Party. Tip O'Neill was a Democrat but not the type of liberal that now exists. I'm afraid the fear is real, we are living in times where morality has been supplanted with whatever the deviance du jour is and if you disagree with whatever that is you will be silenced. Reagan and O'Neill would be equally mortified by this. This is not at all what America is about and those who support it may have been born here but have no love for America and certainly don't deserve to call themselves Americans or share in it's blessings. There may yet be a civil war and I would almost welcome it because there's no doubt in my mind how it would end and we could go back to being a country again.
