Well, those who dont understand math and voted in Fl. passed amendment 2.
They will complain when milk cost 8$ and rent skyrockets. Another shortsighted policy courtesy of democrats.

Florida Amendment 2. Raise Minimum Wage
Raises the minimum wage to $10.00 per hour effective September 30th, 2021 and then increases it annually by $1.00 per hour until the minimum wage reaches $15.00 per hour in 2026 and then reverts back to being adjusted annually for inflation.

 

Wow. Help me out, are you saying the voters in Florida voted republican for president and democrat for propositions?

Min wage is already $15. here in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, those workers have to buy from businesses paying their employees $15. and are no better off. Only the government is better off.

 

Rent is far more determined by demand for housing than how much the very poorest are earning. And milk hasn't cost anywhere near $8 in any place with a $15 minimum age. The average isn't that far below $15 currently anyway.

What this will hurt is the jobs situation. Companies are struggling and a high minimum wage will make it harder for them to stay in business. Its best to save minimum wage increases for when the economy is good.

 

And it will drive inflation, it's just a numbers game.

 

Yes, it will drive inflation modestly, but not as much as these workers will be benefitted. A 15 dollar minimum wage means the middle class and corporations will pay a little more so that the very poorest can afford to live.

 

In the long run it will hurt us, there will also be more unemployment, more employers only hiring part time, drive automation.

 

Why do you believe milk will cost $8.00? Minimum wage in my state is $12.00 and a gallon of milk is about $3.38.

 

Minimum wage is a neccessary evil in the age of GOP backed free trade. When companies can just fire all their workers and move to China, and get tax breaks from the GOP in return for doing it, then there is no incentive to pay fair wages.

The only way things change is if we abolish free trade with counties like China, or ban countries who use sweatshops from selling their products in the US. (and make them prove that the products are not made in sweatshops)

 

So I exaggerated some, the inflation will be real. The loss of jobs will be real, as well as the reduction of hours.

 

And worse more more jobs are now paying minimum than ever before. In the end if you were making between ten and fifteen dollars an hour you got screwed.

 

Sure, Democrats NEVER do anything to drive jobs overseas....I think I hear Bill C. laughing.

I'd say in the long run its mixed. Yes, there will be more unemployment, but also the poorest people will also be more able to afford to live, and cost taxpayers less in government services.

 

Don't I recall they did that somewhere (NYC maybe) and the recipients discovered that the boost it gave them also raised their income over the max to receive aid ( food stamps, rent assistance, etc.) and was NOWHERE near enough to live on without said aid?

 

True. My son's friend was an EMT making $15. He quit the moment min wage went up. He said "Why should I deal with open wounds and bodily fluids for the same money as flipping burgers?"

 

Unfortunately our aid is weird. I would make aid proportional to income and gradually reduce as people earn more money.

 

I already showed you where you were wrong in one area. Show us how many jobs will be lost based on real data...not your exaggerated opinion. You keep talking in generalities and offer no actual data. But then that seems to be your M.O.

the min wage should have been slowly raised over the years every time congress got a cost of living increase

Not if they cant find a job. Or only part time.

 

They need $15 an hour now, not in 5 years.
