Doesn't tobacco require far more intensive processing before it is ready to be smoked?
If I understand correctly, you just grow cannabis and smoke it with minimal fuss and bother.

But proper curing is the key to fine weed.

    Thanks,
I assumed that you didn't just pick-and-roll and that drying/curing was important to eliminate moisture.

Are you old enough to remember the Thai sticks etc from S.E. Asia.
I was stationed in Laos during the Vietnam War & lots of people were reluctant to come home because the reefer etc was so good.

Not really, Native Indians were growing it and I'm sure their process was pretty simple.. Regardless of today blending and additives the original procedure was to dry it in the sun or in a barn until moisture content was reduced to a smoke/chew/snuff stage(S)..

As for cannabis, those days of smoking nugs are pretty much OLD SCHOOL. Todays choice's are concentrates, like Wax, live resin/rosin and preloaded vap cartridges, all hardly as simple as trimming and drying.. Most are distilled from butane, some of the more expensive are heat pressed.. I personally don't know many that still twist a blunt anymore, concentrates are far more potent and cleaner, ash trays and roach burn are yesterdays stuff ;)

In any case, todays THC is pretty scientific compared to yesterdays bag a stems and seeds ;)

    Thanks,
That makes sense. I live in rural VA & have seen many old tobacco barns around especially in the S.E. part of the state.
Apparently, proper curing is important with both reefer and tobacco.

    1. It does impair driving But there are no pot bars. If you use you use at home, at a hotel. Initially traffic deaths increased in the first year then returned to the expected levels in later years. Many suspect pot tourists.
    2. Wrong about children. When it is illegal children can buy it from whomever will sell. Dispensaries do not knowingly sell to kids any more than the Kwiky-Mart will sell MD-20/20 to a kid. But, with drugs being illegal the middle managers reduce risk for their street dealers by using kids knowing that as long as the kid is unarmed and dealing small amounts the risk is a night or 2 in detention. Kids sell to people they know, OTHER KIDS!
    3. MEXICO?!?!?! Mexico, as a nation, is behind only Columbia as countries who are victims of US drug policy and the US appetite for drugs. Mexico and other Latin American companies would welcome the US legalizing pot. Mexican gangs are not selling pot in Mexico. They're smuggling across the border and selling here. Make it legal and the "risk premium" evaporates and the middlemen prices drop drastically. This reduces revenues for the cartels and will force them give up pot as a revenue source because the incoming money flows will not cover the infrastructure cost of a pot smuggling operation. Our legalizing pot will reduce crime significantly in Mexico.

    Now before you respond ...

Pot is NOT a gateway drug
People who smoke pot are violent when high
People who smoke pot do not commit crimes to fund their "habit" speaking of which
    Pot is not physiologically addictive.

I agree with the sentiment 100%. As our founders said the tyranny of the majority is every bit as bad as the tyranny of the despot or king.. I'm merely commenting on the restrictions placed on the central government, although they have much latitude in legislating about individual liberty if they choose.

The DOI does express a philosophical basis for all governments, but, as great as it is, it is not the law of the land. The federal government is highly restricted (which, BTW, they pay little attention or adherence to) on the type of legislation they enact. The states have no such restrictions. However the federal government can step in if the states pass laws contrary to the underpinnings of the United States of America as described in the DOI and the Constitution.

I guess that legalizing cannabis is where this country is headed. I used to hate all drugs and thought they were all psychedelic level drugs.

I heard from someone in Colorado that there are basically like 5 varieties of weed. Of those, one or two makes you feel happy. One makes you feel sad. One tastes like dirt. What have you?? They also come in different potencies.

Personally, I don't care anymore. I won't be taking them.

On an aside, did you hear how Oregon legalized ALL drugs??? Woah!! I'm not sure this country is ready for that!

And we hear from the I do everything better when I'm [DRUNK/HIGH] faction.

We know that 1 oz of alcohol will impact visual acuity and motor skills. We also know that a person weighing 100 lbs will not pass a breathalyzer.
I do not know of any reliable data that equates a quantity of pot use to a quantity of alcohol use.
The variables with pot are too many:
    Indica or Sativa, or Hybrid
    THC content
    Delivery Method
individual absorption rate and many more.

    Riddle me this
Have you ever been too high to, oh say, safely handle a firearm, a power tool, or a vehicle?
Did you realize you were too high BEFORE or AFTER you were too high?

Ha! Trick question. Of course you realize it AFTER.

But, given the risk factors why even attempt to drive, shoot, or saw while high?

    And one more thing

What happens when someone uses too much pot?
That's right, they go to sleep. Your claim that pot has little/no effect on motor skill is just wrong.

    I disagree with all that.

Legalization will increase usage simply due to availability, it's not going to decrease. That ultimately more accidents and more Kids smoking it. They will just steal mom and dads stash who probably won't even notice and just add it to their shopping lists.

While neither of these are critically important it will happen. What you are going to see from cartels is simply competition, they will just drop their price a couple bucks and it will actually be far easier for them to sell up here. You don't pay taxes on their pot. They will also have stronger pot due to their ability to lace it cheaply so their business may actually increase.

In Potugal there has been no reduction in illegal drugs with it's decriminalization, it stayed pretty much the same.

Agree, but for example, if Rubio voted against, I would support his primary opponent, and I kind of like Rubio.

It's not a major issue for most voters. Should easily get through at this point.

Why not just say you don't like pot and want things you don't like to be illegal.
Being honest is way better than being, well, that :above:.

Legal usage will increase, illegal usage will decrease. Shouldn't that be the goal? They steal liquor, should liquor be illegal? They steal money, should money be illegal?

The legal pot business in the US faces huge overhead costs that would disappear with legalization. Cash only, sale records, grow area, among others that drive operating costs sky high. I'm not privy to the books of the various pot companies so I'm roughly estimating that without those costs the retail price of pot would drop below $75 oz. So why smuggle a legal product? As long as they're meeting quality standards just pay the import tax and sell your product to the distributor. There will still be some illegal street sales but the amount will be nominal and given the "risk premium," $50 oz is bare survival. It's some guy with a few plants in his back yard. We've reduced crime in several countries, made the streets and forests safer, reduced prison loads, and even increased tax revenues.

Making alcohol illegal didn't work, making drugs illegal doesn't work, making prostitution illegal doesn't work. All you do by making these things illegal is criminalize personal behavior. If a person decides to do a line of coke, who does he hurt? And, if there is no harm, what is the foundation of the crime? US criminal law is based around "illegal taking" and if you look at criminal codes you will find that contained within each definition of a crime is the concept of an individual (the accused) depriving another individual (the victim) of some property.

But, there is a whole class of crimes where there is no victim. There "victimless crimes" are unique in several ways:
    Their criminality is not universal. Possession of 28.2 grams is a misdemeanor in Orlando, step out into Orange county and you may or may not get a felony.;
    The criminality is capricious. In the city of Orlando possession of 28.2 grams of pot is a misdemeanor. However 28.3 grams can get you a felony. Why does that .1gram make a difference?;
The list goes on but these "crimes" all share one property, there is no victim.

Enforcement and punishment for these "crimes" varies according to the local view of the immorality of the act and those most likely to scream loudest for strict enforcement are those who scream loudest about "personal freedom."

Would the sales to minors be enough to fund the supply chain and make it worth the illegal activity vis-a-vis the consequences if caught? The vast majority of sales are to people of legal age and with the convenience of a legal dispensary and probably a better selection and all your paraphernalia needs why would they engage in illegal purchases? I'm sure I could find some untaxed liquor for less than I pay at the legal store but I don't. Why take the risk?

You simply do not know what you are talking about - and are making stuff up and pretending it is true.
I never claimed it had no effect on motor skills .. just very little - and not anything like alcohol.

Reality is that Pot has very little effect on diving - despite your made up delusion
