And they will get away with it the same way the DP says "we are the party for the poor". Results show otherwise.

Trump would not have been elected if the RP could still get away with it.

Small government to Republicans is the size needed to sneak into your bedroom and regulate who you can marry and what contraception
you use. Other than that, they spend every bit as much as Democrats.

The same way reps claim to be the party of small government while doing the opposite, Dems claim to be the party for the little guy when results show the opposite. Both parties require blind followers willing to ignore results. You are no different.

Good point, just like Democrats claim to value a womans right to bodily autonomy unless she wants to protect that right with a gun.

I am up for the individual deciding their own risk.

If you get thrown out a window or not has no effect on me.

Because once you start that then when does it end?

    I don't speak for you.

Why do you care about less spending at this point?

It's already as bad as it can get and whatever is going to happen is unpreventable now.

Kinda like trying to stop climate change, that boat has sailed.

Wrong, and I've already shown you the evidence, we've been down this road, already.

Well, it just seems to me that we obviously need to re-focus on what priorities we should be teaching our youth in order to avoid the pitfalls that created the Trump administration. In addition to science and math, we apparently need to underscore American Civics since far too many are getting their civics fed to them by right-wing media.

You'd think Republicans would believe their own rhetoric about small government. The smaller the government the fewer politicians you need to share the graft money with. What am I missing here?

If there were no seat belt law, how much smaller would govt be and how much money would be cut from govt spending? Please provide actual documented figures.

Those of you who want to keep printing money are clearly in the majority. I don't see how you can be for out of control spending and smaller government at the same time. These are mutually exclusive concepts.

Dems claim to be the party of the less fortunate. Democrats, with no Republicans in their way, produce the highest levels of poverty and the greatest gap between the rich and poor. This is a fact, yet you blindly support the party the same way you are accusing Republicans of. You are no different.

Yep, it's the "lives across the street" accountability effect. Politicians need to be often reminded of the prospect of tar and feathers or public censure, else they give into human nature.

It's only recognizing half the problem if you think only republicans are the problem.

After Trump? Those who align themselves with Trump mean nothing by "small government." They've chosen one of the biggest government options available . .. likely THE biggest government option available.

    The 2020 federal budget was about $4.8 trillion;

This is approximately $14,769 per capita of 325 million population
Or approximately $32,000 for each of the ~150 million American workers.

These numbers are staggering and one question is 'who is paying for our government'? Obviously, few of the 150 American workers can afford $32,000 each year in taxes? It's no wonder why we have climbing deficit spending and debt? Deficit spending has become SOP!

Anyway...someone please define 'small government'? IMO since the nation is basically crumbling, the budget should be $5-6 trillion.

Of course there's the never talked about scenario of reducing government spending, but the reason it's never talked about is because it can't be done! Every state and every county and every city across the US is sucking on the federal government teat! A couple years ago my little town of 15,000 got $425K from the federal government to hire police and fire personnel...I assume this is happening all across the nation. Also, for every $100K-$150K in reduced government spending is the loss of one job.

Government spending and budgets and deficits and debt are not red-blue issues. Everything costs more and more and more...
