Same question to you. How is using official terminology in official documents, scrapping state's rights?

And you are every bit as free to call this virus whatever you like as you were 100 years ago ... but I know you
have a need to light your hair on fire about this, so go on.

Be real, Biden’s order is pure politics designed to simultaneously criticize Trump appealing to the hate Trump Crowd and to mollify China. All part of Biden’s Covid Control strategy, eh?

Because one shoe fits all ,,, as proven by the almost universally repeatable recessions that flow from one shoe fits all minimum wage increases.

If we had one country Trumpism would never have taken hold.

It makes no sense to have different cultures as we do in one country. No good has ever come of it, in any country.

One USA, no more 50 states!

Horsesh*t. And you know it. But spreading fear is all you guys have left. Logic and reason went out the window years ago.

I completely agree with that. Another pet peeve of mine is, why do we even have a President? A guy who stays in power all of four years, with... basically no accountability, as Trump's 2019 impeachment demonstrated, is insane. We need a head of state that can be removed by a parliamentary power as soon as they lose credibility with the people.

Do you want to try again? The swine flu started south of the US.
If that is what you want then nothing is stopping you from leaving the US. Our government isn't set up that way.

Sorry but our government is not set up that way. What you are proposing is eliminating the Constitution.

What? Replacing a set of rules, many of which are obsolete and intended for a country that existed over 200 years ago? Oh no! That's unthinkable. Too far outside the box!

But every president loses credibility in one way or another with a portion of the people. Seems like a dangerous road to go down.

    Sure. I tried again.

Where did the 2009 H1N1 flu virus come from?
The 2009 H1N1 influenza virus (referred to as “swine flu” early on) was first detected in people in the United States in April 2009.

The head of state of every democratic country in the world has little credibility with a portion of the people. "Credibility" is an euphemism for "screws up". It doesn't mean that he's removed because of popularity ratings. A parliamentary system selected directly by the people (not by the states) would allow the rise of more political parties and, therefore, more representation of the people.

Of course it's probably not going to happen in any of our lifetimes. But we need to start talking about it. Because the current Presidential system is rapidly degrading. And, after the Trump debacle, the path to this country embracing a dictatorship one day, appears to be in sight. Unless we do something to prevent it.

Never said it was but as long as we all know what we're talking why does Joe
Well actually he only specified China virus so...
I just wonder why out of all the things he's got on his plate he thinks he needs to order people to do things 99.5% of all people in government were already doing anyway.

    1. Please cite your proof that 99.5% of all people were being consistent in their language.
    2. How much time does it take to say, "I need everyone at the agencies to use consistent COVID terminology" and then sign it?

I have to disagree. In regards to Trump debacle I think that was more bluster than substance. There was never a real serious threat of him ever staying in office. The checks and balances we have in this country will prevent any type of dictatorship. At least in my opinion.

Probably because .5% of Government officials are being contrarian dicks just because they’re children with hurt feelings.

The swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus that appeared in 2009 and was first found in human beings in Mexico, is a reassortant with at least three parents. Six of the genes are closest in sequence to those of H1N2 'triple-reassortant' influenza viruses isolated from pigs in North America around 1999-2000. Its other two genes are from different Eurasian 'avian-like' viruses of pigs; the NA gene is closest to H1N1 viruses isolated in Europe in 1991-1993, and the MP gene is closest to H3N2 viruses isolated in Asia in 1999-2000. The sequences of these genes do not directly reveal the immediate source of the virus as the closest were from isolates collected more than a decade before the human pandemic started. The three parents of the virus may have been assembled in one place by natural means, such as by migrating birds, however the consistent link with pig viruses suggests that human activity was involved. We discuss a published suggestion that unsampled pig herds, the intercontinental live pig trade, together with porous quarantine barriers, generated the reassortant. We contrast that suggestion with the possibility that laboratory errors involving the sharing of virus isolates and cultured cells, or perhaps vaccine production, may have been involved. Gene sequences from isolates that bridge the time and phylogenetic gap between the new virus and its parents will distinguish between these possibilities, and we suggest where they should be sought. It is important that the source of the new virus be found if we wish to avoid future pandemics rather than just trying to minimize the consequences after they have emerged. Influenza virus is a very significant zoonotic pathogen. Public confidence in influenza research, and the agribusinesses that are based on influenza's many hosts, has been eroded by several recent events involving the virus. Measures that might restore confidence include establishing a unified international administrative framework coordinating surveillance, research and commercial work with this virus, and maintaining a registry of all influenza isolates.

No. Of course there was no threat (or little threat) of him staying in office. But my concern is that the only reason is that he was not smart enough. Somebody more intelligent who manages to get the same level of power over lawmakers that he did, could cheat into getting himself re-elected without fear of impeachment (there is now precedent that would help him do that) ... and maybe even overturn the 22nd amendment.
