    Why do fetuses have value?

I think that you mean protection and value. Given that protection is also given to people because of rights.

A fetus only has value if the woman carrying it wishes to be a mother.

Rights do not inhere in anything. They are principles that only apply to beings with certain characteristics and have the purpose of protecting the individual from force while seeking his values or dealing with others. This means that one cannot be granted rights unless one has the ability to pursue one's values and capacity to deal with others.

Since the fetus lives within the woman carrying it, it cannot act independently nor can it deal with others. It does not even need any rights because it lacks volitional consciousness and does not live as part of society yet!

That sounds like an admission that the "trick questions" are successful in tricking you! Otherwise you would have surely said, ATTEMPTED trick questions.

Depends on the type of right.

The law provides equal rights to all.

    Absolutely.

God. If I was a secular conservative I would say just me.

The unlawful and intentional killing of someone.

    Not sure what you're asking.

I don't have a problem with them. I would argue that they differ from abortion, because I don't believe that the life which they kill has sufficient value.

Depends what the medical advancement is.

Absolutely. I have no choice but to believe that.

    Of course.

No punishment for the woman. Murder charge for the performing medical practitioner.

You said, "I think this might be somewhat true. But, not for the reasons you may think. When the Church held a tight crip on society and told people having fun is a sin that will send you to hell, I am sure many couples were both afraid and ashamed of having sex." The problem is that you weren't capable of saying how exactly would the pill have changed any of that.

Also, when placed under scrutiny, you haven't been capable of defending your position that that fetuses don't have protection, in light of the fact that fetuses DO have protection in the majority of the world, including the vast majority of the US.

And yet late term abortion is not available in much of the world, including in the majority of the US! But you'll continue to avoid this!

So you don't think that one can be granted rights, but would you say that one can be granted value?

So then in order to be logically consistent, you must agree with this: Since the comatose patient lives on the machines attached to them, they cannot act independently nor can they deal with others. They do not even need any rights because they lack volitional consciousness and do not live as part of society!

Already we have found one problem of yours; You dopn't know what rights are. Your homework will be to read up on rights and then come back when you have gained proper knowledge and can give a proper definition.

Good. That means you know no one has the right to forcefully live within and of another person, right?

Wrong. You need to do more homework.

Alright. Screw the homework. I am done with you. It is impossible to have a rational conservation with someone who puts faith above reason.

    Yeah.

I am honestly done talking to you. At least you have the virtue of honesty to admit that you are religious (pretending to be shocked) and that that is where your stance on abortion comes from.

I do not know if this is true, but it should be available because sometimes serious complications do not show up until it is time to give birth.

You decide what has value to you. You are the author of your own actions and the captain of your own life.

Yes. I have answered this question 225 times -- The comatosed patient only has the right to live as long as someone is paying for the plug.

Conservatives believe that there are inalienable rights which preexist government. Which obviously doesn't include the right an abortion provided by the health system,

As in a person? How would a person live within another person?

An embryo and a fetus are NOT completely dependent on the life, health and diet of the woman carrying it? What the hell are you talking about?

What the HELL is wrong with you? You asked a PERSONAL question and you got a PERSONAL answer! Who the hell does YOUR life and body belong to?

Even though I haven't used religion in ANY of my arguments! :roflol:

Sorry, I keep forgetting to add that it is obviously available if the mother's life is at risk, certainly in all of the US and I assume most of the world, certainly all of the West. However, in all other circumstances, late term abortion is not available in much of the world, including in the majority of the US.

Then I guess parents can legally kill their BORN kids once they decide that they have no value. After all, they are the author of their own actions and the captain of their own lives.

Not the point. Can I legally shoot the comatose patient?

Rights are the product of man's reason. They are not something that "just exist" and some form of government is required to gurantee every individual protection from having their rights violated.

Bingo! This is why the fetus is not a person. :)

Alright. Not only do you need to read more about rights, but also do you need a 5th grade biology book.

Your life and body belongs to You. A pregnant woman's body belongs to her.

Although it is true you have not explicitly mentioned "God" or "the Bible" in any of your posts, anyone who can read can smell it between the lines.

Ask the people who put value on them.

NO, when I say " Sad that that had to be explained but maybe you will learn the difference between "protection" and "rights".""

    I mean "protection" and "rights"..

There's that religious stuff again...you may be owned by this "God" but not everyone is...

There's the old "Pretend to show Compassion for women by allowing them to escape execution when in REAL LIFE they would be charged with Murder"

YES, they would. GOODGAWD, that should be obvious

When a person hires a hitman to kill someone and the hitman is successful BOTH are charge with murder....BOTH... this has been explained to you and it is quite simple and logical.

The court doesn't say to the first person, Gee, you hired out your murder but someone else actually did it so you can just run along....:roflol:

UghaDUH, he was talking about the number of words in a post, not posts...

""This forum is in desperate need of a minimum word-count for posts""

Maybe stop and think before posting and read the actual words ????Just a thought ;)...and maybe that would help you understand other posts...

    ….. "perhaps you could've tried a LITTLE harder?" ...

That question had nothing to do with abortion.

Women are told that it's just a bunch of cells. Clearly women don't know what they're killing, given that sane, reasonable, healthy women don't seek to get their BORN babies after life becomes extremely difficult as a parent, at times regretting the choice to not abort during pregnancy.
