These schools have high graduation rates because they admit a very bright, very committed and driven student body, not because they just push them through with bogus courses and lax standards so that most graduate. Using their high graduation rates as some sort of hint that doing the work there is not that hard and once you get in it's "a sure thing" is extremely disingenuous.

As someone with Ivy League education whose children are also Ivy League graduates, I do know what I'm talking about.

As for the other part of your post, yes, some of these right wing politicians have earned elite education. This is not new. Both parties have people like this. Look at Stacey Abrams: Yale Law grad. The Clintons, Obama, are Yale and Harvard grads. John Kerry, Yale. Chuck Schumer, Harvard.

But then, both the Left and the Right also have some poorly educated dumb-dumbs... like AOC for the left, and Sarah Palin for the right. 18% of Senators in 2015 came from the Ivy League but 60% came from in-state colleges.

In the current House of Representatives, 6 Republicans are Harvard grads, while 34 Democrats are Harvard grads.

1. It wasn't a political discussion, it was a direct attack on the military by a cable news guy. And since, as far as I know, he has not been reprimanded, I'm going to assume he didn't break any laws or rules or codes of conduct.

2. I used to work with those folks, the ones that were Air Force and are now Space Force. They're stationed out at Schriever AFB. I wouldn't want to pick a verbal fight with them. There are no dummies in that outfit.

3. IMO, Tucker Carlson is a fool who deserves any derision poured upon him.

Now, if you aren't a woman, you may not understand the misogyny. What he said was dismissive of, and hateful towards, the women who choose to serve. It was disrespectful towards our military in general as well.

Carlson is a spoiled little rich boy who never had to worry about money, and was sent to some of the most expensive schools on the planet. His father owns whole islands, not just estates in expensive places like La Jolla, CA.

Tucker never bother to serve his country, and in fact was turned away when he applied for work at the CIA. If you're one of the many who moan and groan about elites, Tucker is as elite as they come.
