Why do you make claims you know you cannot demonstrate to be true?

We have a long history of tackling hard problems head on, too.

How about we try that before simply throwing our hands in the air and deciding we're a "can't do" nation on this one?

Oooohhhh. You think the "gun culture" is responsible for most of the gun-related violence in the US.
    -There's- your problem.

We don't use that excuse for ignoring other problems.

Why does you "wisdom" justiify ignoring our serious gun problem?

As far as I know, there are not many other nations that have the right to bear arms enshrined in their Constitution. Thus using other nations as an example would not work out too well.

Forcing people to take classes and update their skills would be an infringement upon the rights protected by the 2nd Amendment.

Yep, when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

Personally I do not think requiring licenses or anything for gun ownership is a good idea. The government should not have a record of who owns what firearms, when a major part of their purpose is to keep the government in check.
But I am definitely in favor of firearms handling and safety classes. Some may think I am crazy, but I think it should be required in schools. Similar to sex education. We recognize teenagers are going to have sex, so we ensure they have the knowledge to keep themselves safe, as we know they are going to do it anyways, so let’s make sure they are safe and responsible.
Same for guns. Many, if not most people are going to come into contact with guns. Let’s have safety courses put in place in all schools, so that everyone has knowledge in how to safely handle them.

    Really.
Do you or do you not think the "gun culture" is responsible for most of the gun-related violence in the US?

    "Serious gun problem"?

    423,000,000 guns in the US.
About 10k are used to commit murder each year.
About 24k are used to commit suicide each year.
At least 100k are used in self-defense each year

Fact is, around 34,000 of the 423,000,000 gun in the US are used to kill someone - around 0.008038% of the total.
For context -- If 0.008038% of almost 30 million who tested positive for Covid died from it - about 2400 people - no one would know it existed.

With these facts in mind, please....
    - Define the "problem" you see here.
    - Demonstrate that said "problem" actually exists.
    - Demonstrate the necessity for and efficacy of whatever solution you propose to address this "problem".

Well, speaking as an Australian - we find the ready availability of guns in
America quite shocking. And the gun deaths are seen as being a natural
    consequence of this.

Those of the "gun culture" have made it essentially impossible to address gun related violence in the US.

That absolutley DOES confer a degree of responsibility.

It is the logical conclusion of their concerted efforts.

Good for your daughter but if there is legislation that keeps her from ever being able to buy firearms and ammo because of her schizophrenia, I would support it.

Do you believe that "Big Woods Goods" broke the law in selling a gun that was used in a crime only a few hours later?

We call it a natural outgrowth of our national origin, development and identity.
We fought the Crown for our freedom; you didn't so it's no surprise you don't understand.
423,000,000 guns; 30-35k gun-related deaths per year, where 70-75% of those people chose to die.
Don't see it. Demonstrate the necessary relationship.

On the contrary - they - "we"- are perfectly willing to address it.
What -you- mean is they -"we" - make it essentially impossible to address gun-related violence in the way -you- would like to see it addressed.
Thus, the problem here lies with you, not us.

The NRA does not manufacture guns. The NRA is not a manufacturer of Ammo.

Blaming a social group is how you swing at things you can't control? The mind set of the Democrat is to be in control of humans.

YOU may call it that. I sure don't call it that.

And, your idea that we are somehow unique in having a revolutionary war in our history is just plain SILLY.

Do you know ANYTHING about the NRA???

The fact that they don't manufacture guns is absolutely irrelevant.

What they do is apply political pressure to prevent our gun problem from being addressed - or in some cases even just studied!!

Nothing can be done to address this problem we have WITHOUT first defeating the NRA on each move proposed.

What you'll find is other countries do not have a 2nd amendment. Case closed.

The "point" I refered to was CUT BY YOU!!!

You want to be sure NOT to hear the truth.

And, the truth is that there is no rationality to this claim that we have a gun problem because of having had a revolutionary war.

The proof and results are in the action . What is the plan to deal with the powerful forces that influence the gun cultures.??

What about the RC factor?? ( resistance to change) What about the systemic fear that exists ..........and in turn justifies the ownership and use of guns..........( personal protection ) Security systems / companies make a fortune providing systems for personal use. That does not indicate a safe country .

WHY do folks NEED guns in the first place?? Particularly assault rifles?? Where is the NEED for such an item??

Just because people have a right to own weapons.........does not mean they have to or should.

Do folks Need weapons or do they WANT them?? ( this does not include the police force or the military )
