About 10k are used to commit murder each year.
About 24k are used to commit suicide each year.
At least 100k are used in self-defense each year

Fact is, around 34,000 of the 423,000,000 gun in the US are used to kill someone - around 0.008038% of the total.
For context -- If 0.008038% of almost 30 million who tested positive for Covid died from it - about 2400 people - no one would know it existed.

With these facts in mind, please....
- Define the "problem" you see here.
- Demonstrate that said "problem" actually exists.
- Demonstrate the necessity for and efficacy of whatever solution you propose to address this "problem".

30,000 gun toting folks is just the tip of the iceberg. Folks who are willing to fight to keep the 2nd amendment have been preparing for a fight for a very long time because they believe that day is coming.

 

We have more than 5X the gun deaths in the US than any other first world country.

No other country would tolerate the slaughter you laud as "freedom" or whatever.

The demand for one solution is just an excuse for failing to address the issue. Very few difficult problems are solved by one solution alone.

The government has the right to 'red flag' any person they feel the need to, or they are not a government, they cannot protect their citizens. The people flagged have a concomitant right to challenge the flagging and have it lifted should it be unjustified.

How about funding the CDC or some other agency to study gun death in America and how to reduce it?

We do that with the NTSB for transportation safety - a topic similar in that everyone can own and drive a car and the number of deaths is similar.

That has had a significant positive effect. In fact, that direction caused air travel to have an almost perfect record over stupendous numbers of flights, with its affects covering other countries as well!!
