It is the major use for justification for hate.
But that's because people interpret any way they want.

They use it for hate, but could, just as easily use if for love and tolerance. It's open to each own interpretation. But most churches teach the hate.

There's a thread about church membership is now below 50% in USA and has been dropping for 60 yrs. Probably because of the hate part of teaching.

Class prayers, teachers saying 'god bless america', school premises used for promotion of a religion (in any form), etc etc.

It has nothing to do with the children.

Exactly, these Christian students are not being funded by anyone to promote their Christian beliefs, but the left here refuse to face that fact.

If your real objective is to destroy America (with different words, of course) you certainly would not want God to bless it.

God has already blessed America. You worship the god that fits your narrative.

Why don't atheists mass migrate to countries that Openly admit the government dispenses their rights and is their god?

Is the US govt taking away your right to worship whichever god you believe in based on the part of the world you were born?

Why are you so desperate to change the subject?

Meanwhile, rights are not inalienable if they come from a god. The concept, for example, of freedom of religion, comes from the secular influences of the Enlightenment. Nearly every theist religion opposed such a "right," and the Bible explicitly prohibited it, even prescribing the death penalty for those who exercised it. And, no, that isn't just an OT thing (although that alone would be enough to prove that you can't base such rights on a Biblical god). Even the NT says that those who hate the Christian God are "deserving of death" and, in the same book, says that governments authorities are all personally appointed by God and wield the sword as his personal executioners.

For the vast majority of Christianity's political existence (over a millennium and a half), it stuck by these Biblical principles and outlawed such freedoms. It took secular considerations, not religious ones, to start recognizing such rights under the law.

There is no concept of freedom of speech in the Bible. There is no concept of freedom of thought in the Bible. There is no concept of freedom of religion in the Bible. God, according to the Bible, has demanded death from those who "wrongly" exercise any of these rights. If you are going to respect these rights, and respect them AS actual rights, then you are going to either have to appeal to secular reasoning or some minority religion.

The only thing the ACLU has ever opposed when it comes to saying "God Bless America" is when it comes to taxpayer funded officials instructing kids to say it, rather than leaving their religious instruction to their families and to their personal exploration. If your real objective is to destroy free thought and to have the government subsidize your religion, then of course you want government employees instructing children about what religious statements to say or believe.

No, I do not want any government subsidizing religion, at least directly and explicitly, and I absolutely don't want any government instructing anybody in religion. However "God bless America" has nothing to do with any religion.

No they don't. Atheist have no interest in taking away anyone's right to believe in whichever god they choose.

Nonsense. Atheists believe in large part that "freedom of religion" translates to "freedom from religion".

    Lots of examples of that.

No atheist is looking to prevent you from believing in any god you want. It's nonsense to say otherwise.

What is wrong with the notion of 'freedom FROM religion' when it comes to the government?

American Civil Liberties Union is dedicated to guaranteeing our Constitutional Rights. Opposing it kind of exposes you as a Commie.

Personally, I don't want religion or politics in our schools. Dems shouldn't have their tax money used to push religion on their kids any more than Reps should have to pay to have progressive ideology pushed on their kids. Its not like our schools are doing such a great job and have tons of time left over for this stuff!

We have freedom of religion, but we also have freedom FROM religion. Meaning you have absolutely no right to shove your particular religion down my throat. Atheists and agnostics like myself don't give two shits what religion you are, just don't push it on us. It's that simple...
