Possibly, but if it came down to a hot war with a major power these days I’d be surprised if one side didn’t end up glassed before a ground war could even start.

I don’t think I was derailing the thread, but if the OP thinks so I’ll be happy to rethink my approach.

You know, if you don’t want to talk with me you don’t have to engage with my posts.

Or if there is a ground war it will probably be fought with drones and robots.

I say there is no draft so worrying about it is something I support. It reduces the time politicians have to waste my money.

Expulsion of satellites complicates those and many of the advanced warfare we have today.

Israeli women are a different breed. Very different from your average American. We have them here tucked away as personal trainers or MMA fighters. They’re not normal.

This is the perfect example of libertying and equalitying in the wrong direction. ...unless this bill also restricts those being pressed into service from serving overseas. I'ma guess it doesn't tho...

To win a war now it's about controlling the skies, oil and waters.

America is the best in all of these fields.

China beats us in hackers and cyber warefare which would help them and they have alot of ballistic missiles stationed in China but those would only keep us away temporarily.

Russia is a beast but not as strong as China or America. Other countries excel in a certain area. For example India has a powerful navy but that is it. They are very weak in every other area. NK has a big submarine fleet but they are very old and outdated. Theyalsohave a combat ready ground force but not much else.

America would be very hard to defeat if not impossible without the use of nukes or cyber warfare. Controlling the ocean and skies helps us greatly and taking the oil fields in the middle east would cripple the other countries. That would also put the world into a economic depression and America would end up still losing.

I'm fine with woman being in the draft although I don't agree with having it anymore. Having 2 brothers that did tours in Iraq I can say it's a scary thing to go through for anyone.

When people quote my posts I tend to respond. Why are you engaging with a person you don’t want to deal with then bemoaning the fact that they’re talking with you. Just put me on ignore if you’re going to get upset.

Pretty good break down I would say.

I especially appreciate the understanding that a war with other major powers is a losing proposition even if we “win”. Here’s hoping that’s generally understood by our leadership.

We’ve played this game before, Poly. I’ll leave you alone for now, but just remember that I engaged in good faith and you chose to throw a hissy fit.

    Not a good look.

As I said, there are plenty of non-combat roles in the military. Not every service member is going to go block to block kicking in doors. There are different training environments for different MOSs and I don’t see how a draft would change that.

They can go to combat. They meet the minimum height and weight they don't get a choice just like men.

"Who Must Register with Selective Service

    • Almost all men age 18-25 who are U.S. citizens or are immigrants living in the U.S. are required to register with Selective Service. Citizens must register within 30 days of turning 18. Immigrants must register within 30 days of arriving in the U.S.
Just replace the collective noun 'men' with the collective noun 'persons' when you go to the exemptions page, delete any reference to transgender and save the rest.

Sure, anyone who meets physical requirements should be eligible for combat roles. That said height and weight are not the minimum requirements. I wouldn’t want someone who is not physically capable being responsible for watching my back.
