This is the brutal truth about forced lockdowns and the effect it has on people! Tested negative nine times, no air conditioning, not even allowed out and police threatening to gas the guy..

Now this is Paranoia gone way to far! Maybe we should be organizing humanitarian evacuation from this part of Australia, clearly is inhuman from where I sit!

Well the guy violated the law and tried to sneak into the province so he could not be on a "trusty" quarantine. That being said two weeks in a 15 x 15 room?? Don't know how much time or what kind of time they get outside the rooms or how they are getting fed. But what do they expect when they lock people up?

Looks like Australia's Gestapo is failing.

By this graph, you'd think DeSantis was governor of Australia. But no, it's just a bunch of anti-scientific leftists there.

Do you understand that hotel quarantine doesn't happen involuntarily, right? Every single person in that type of quarantine VOLUNTEERED for it. Complaining about it after the fact just makes this person a big baby. Ditto the neighbour smashing up their room.

Friend of mine went through this after visiting her dying mother, and didn't complain once. Of course it wasn't fun, but she understood the importance of it and sucked it up. Imagine being alone in an even smaller room, after just losing your last living relative. If she could handle it, I'm sure this Bogan could have.

My impression after spending a little time in Australia was that those in the bush liked their guns and weren't all that impressed with their own government.

Well, I live in the bush .. and I would have to argue with that. There are two main types of country folk here: working farmers - who regard guns as tools, and alternative lifestylers - who mostly despise guns. There is a small sub-culture of 'hunting' types, but they're very much outliers. Widely perceived as impossibly rough and antisocial.

The difference is DeSantis won't lock you in a 15 *15 room for two weeks while the virus spikes regardless.

Let's just revisit the caveat again, lest you overload.

Those in hotel quarantine are there by choice. They have chosen to travel, knowing full well that quarantine would be required upon entering the country.

    All hotel quarantine is MANDATORY.

I'm not following you, because it seems you're saying he didn't know that it was mandatory? If that's what he's claiming, he's a liar. Everyone here, and anyone planning to enter the country, has known for 18 months that it's mandatory.

Then it’s not VOLUNTARY like you claimed. It’s mandatory.

What? Of course it's voluntary - because travel is voluntary. And travel is the only thing which will put you in that mandatory hotel quarantine. Those who travel are doing so in the full knowledge that they'll be quarantining. They're okay with that, obviously .. else they wouldn't travel!

I don't think you understand what mandatory hotel quarantine is. It's only for people who TRAVEL - and every single person who travels KNOWS they'll be quarantining, and yet chooses to travel anyway. IE, they are volunteering for that mandatory quarantine.

Quarantine is not sprung on unsuspecting individuals for no apparent reason - though it seems you think it's something like that.

Bullshit what if their father or mother fell ill suddenly with a medical condition and they have to fly to see them?

That's a very weird perception, to me. It's like freaking out because some random activity (that many people never do in their entire lives, and even those who do might only do it once or twice) comes with a high cost. Even though you can simply decline to participate in that activity because you don't like the associated cost - or even just because you're not interested in it - you're complaining as though that cost impacts your life in real terms.
