the President is basically a modern day king, it's all mostly for show, the real work comes from congress, that is the secret many do not understand now a President can sometimes sway Congress, but it's really up to Congress
In some ways. However, Congress has also ceded a lot of power to the President. None of Trump's tariffs were approved by Congress, for example. And Congress has, for several decades, decided that they no longer want to be in the business of actually declaring war, and want to just give that power to the President instead.
We're all familiar with the "All criticism of the God Emperor is forbidden!" meme. Authoritarianism at its finest.
Sure thing. And **** Trump, too. We shouldn't tolerate attempts from him to steal elections. It has nothing to do with his skin color.
Trump is a vile narcissist, but you guys earned him. Had you tempered your vilification of the working classes, and your thought-policing madness, he wouldn't have stood a chance.
1. Government runs its business differently than how private companies are run. He had no policies and procedures to follow privately and he has no business acumen at all. He just likes the people that kiss his backside and hates everybody else. That's not leadership. 2. Trump is not a successful businessman by any stretch of the imagination. He inherited a bunch of money and businesses and has to file bankruptcy or pay huge court fines and restitution for all the bad business decisions and outright scams. He is constantly being sued for not paying people for their services and he bullies them with equally disgusting lawyers to the point they give up on getting paid. He even let Powell and Giuliani foot their own bills while they were running around the country screaming election fraud. 3. He's dumb, delusion and has no ability to self-actualize (so he has to have people around him constantly telling him how wonderful he is). The saddest part is that anybody would do that. Anybody paying attention is well aware he would be in some non-descript corner lot in a polyester suit hawking used cars if he didn't inherit a boatload of money and cheat his own family members out of their inheritance from his father's estate. But they want him because he hates the people they hate (which is everybody that doesn't look, love and/or worship they way they do).
Good post. Glad that someone is finally looking at him from the psychological perspective.......... .... What you are describing is spot on............ making Donald a delusional (mad) person who has little sense of reality. He might not even be a liar per se .............as he believes his delusions and bases his world view on them. He surrounds himself with people who reinforce his delusions and world view.. No he is NOT intelligent.........but he is cunning and manipulative........ He is easily threatened and over reacts with disproportional rage.......revenge when criticized or disagreed with. He is narcissistic to an extreme degree and is also paranoid........(very suspicious of others intentions.............as if they are out to hurt him) He is vindictive with a sadistic steak........lacks human empathy............. His niece is absolutely accurate when she describes his psychological condition, behavior and symptoms. His verbalization is simplistic , repetitive and incoherent at times. with high self adulation content. Very little substance. suggesting a limited knowledge base. or inability to articulate it. but because this culture is ot very psychological oriented.......... most can't perceive this and offer up justifications and rationalization for hum Or if they do recognize the issues.......... it is to painful to admit it...... so they go into denial. Al this does is reinforce his delusions (to himself) about himself and how wonderful he is.
No......because it would go to motive and reason for behaving a certain way. "evil" is actually a religious judgmental construct. It is a value judgement......... not a description of destructive behavior.
No, not at all. A man wielding a sword in the street because he believes giant mice are attacking him is mad. A man wielding a sword in the street because he believes you should praise the same god as him is evil. Kind of. We once had a CEO who's credentials included working with Disney. We believed him for a while until his actions and business acumen became so bizarre we finally checked out his story. (I cut this bit short for brevity, obviously there was more to it than this) Thing is, the descriptions of the work he did with Disney were so believable and such huge lies that no one thought they could be. Even when confronted with the facts this man still continued with the lie, to the point where I think he genuinely believed it had happened. Were we fools? Yes. Were we brainwashed? No.
this person you describe sounds delusional. Any fixated belief that is not based on reality / facts is a delusion. ......and no amount of reasoning will shake that.
You are indeed correct, as the term is a construct, however, the end result of such actions from the victims' perspective is generally the same. There may be an argument to be made of how watered down the meaning of "evil" has become. Good analogy. I agree. See, that is a classic con. The brainwashing would come after, to those who refuse to see the evidence, or in this case, the lack thereof. The thing is that no one can be that "honestly" delusional without a support network. While I think it is disgusting, I can understand why so many GOP legislators play along. There's obviously something in it for them, just as there is something there for the Trump clan. What I find fascinating and quite puzzling is why do so many regular folks, who up until Donald came along were only minimally politically minded would want to buy hook, line, and sinker everything about him. It's sort of like the bad "evil" version of Monty Python's Life of Brian. I guess one could make an argument that Trump was also a victim of the likes of Bannon and Miller and the rest of his advisors and consultants, but the end result is the same, regardless of intention....and it was totally preventable. We have known for many years even before Trump ever entered the White House that there were holes in the way we run our politics and government. That's not to say other charlatans haven't tried to rape the system to their benefit in other eras of American history, but this is ours now. It really won't be until 2030 that we will have a better gauge as to how badly this Trump presidency really set us back. Hell, we're still living through the fallout.
That's right. And it's even a prerequisite. The difference is that Trump is also a psychopath. If you mix narcissism and psychopathy, you get Xi Jinping or Vladimir Putin.
You see, to me the most shocking thing about the Trump saga is why did so many people buy into his lies, and still do? This is where the religious angle comes into play and where the entire concept of brainwashing is an appropriate descriptor. For most of my life, I've always been in kind of awe over how stage hypnotists do their thing with complete strangers, especially when they do large groups of people. You can see that they spend the first several minutes eliminating people from the stage before they have their perfect targets. That requires quite a bit of people reading skills. I'm not saying Donnie is that talented to literally hypnotize a third of the country, but there was a lot of support, particularly from the likes of Fox News and other right-wing media playing the same Trump tunes and playing them over and over again. There became a perfect confluence of events, technologies, and entities that combined together that created a Donald Trump, not as a man, but as a vessel to hold all the anger and vileness that lurks in the American psyche. Let me throw this out there; do you think any other Trump-like figure existed within the last 100 years? The only figure that comes to mind would be Goldwater, but he failed.
If any human group can be described as "evil".........it would be psychopaths........as they have no empathy, compassion, and are ruthless, cold and sadistic. Many take pleasure at other peoples pain. Psychopaths derive pleasure at inflicting pain,........be it social, psychological, or simply trashing verbally.. They relish getting their revenge for the the slightest of insults . They are defective in the areas of having a conscience or compassion. They can ACT the part when it is socially required or helps them. or their shallow ego. They are master manipulators........(con people) with self interest being their primary concern. In their arrogance........they believe that the law does not rally apply to them.........and that they can do as they wish.,,,,,,due to being exceptional. Some are quite intelligent....... many believe that they are... (falsely ) They also have a problem with rage. Trump has many characteristics of a sociopath/ psychopath. (unfortunately) Given unlimited power........ he would be even worse than Putin.
