Some have only fallacy to defend claims ... this one won't even state position -- which in this case is "Do as we say - not as we do"

    And so it goes ..

As I do with all western media .. be it left or right .. specially when it comes to foreign policy .. just way to many lies, false narrative, deliberate misinformation, and always the "Sin of Omission" - to not be skeptical at near everything they say .. well l.. and in many cases . .. just assumed to be lying.

    Its disturbing and dangerous.

Are you talking about our political protesters in Washington DC on January 6, who have been sitting in jail for trespassing since then without a trial?

So let me ask you something, what if Assange revealed criminal actions about Russia or China, and they were to do to him what we are doing to him? Our propaganda networks would go wild with condemnations and demonizing - yet not a word is mentioned about the atrocities that we and London have been committing against an award winning journalist.

So how can anyone not question the narratives and spins coming out of the MSM? So tell me, what opposition has Vladimir Putin jailed, Navalny who has a 2% following? He was jailed for breaking the law - which he did many times for the publicity it would give him. As for the protesters, they were in forbidden areas illegally and stopping traffic. Most were kids anyway so they couldn't be arrested. They needed the money.

Both deflection and whataboutisms are 'active measures' used often by Putin's military 'intelligence' and online troll army. The protesters were protesting Putin and his personal capitalism as well as him desperately locking up his opposition like a good dictator.

    And I love it. :)
It shows everyone that Russia is so incredibly meaningless. Western countries don't need Russia. But Russia needs us. We rule the world, not the little soviet KGB monkey Vlad Pootin.

Thanks to ~ 80 years of Soviet communism economically weakening the Russkies. They haven't recovered from it to this day. :D

Of that you can be certain.

You have no idea how many $TRILLIONs you've wasted on your current Geo-Political Strategy.

Don't feel bad. I don't either. Sad thing is you won't see any benefit or relief from it.

Look, I have a BA in Economics. No one has to explain to me that failure to acquire and expand into new markets will result in economic stagnation or long-term contraction.

But, waging war to control resources so you have new markets is not the way to do it, and you don't even benefit from it over the long-term.

That money would be better spent here. Actually, you don't even have to spend any money. You just have to change the statutes/regulations so that the only people who qualify for a Pell Grant and/or government-backed Student Loan are those who score 2100 on the SAT or 24 on the ACT.

That will make a lot of parents very angry, but in a good way, because now they'll actually pay attention to who runs for their local school boards.

And so instead of teaching kids how to put condoms on bananas and make waves for transgender nonsense, the kids actually get educated.

Since being under academic distress commission since 2010, the plan evaluates the districts literacy, graduation credits, diploma seals, expansion of career-technical education and testing.

"The plan will succeed because some of the targets are too low," said Jackie Adaire, school board member. "I mean, who couldn't hit a target like that? All you have to have is 33% of your kids proficient in math."

    https://www.wfmj.com/story/45394404...reaches-next-step-in-gaining-district-control

If that's your Future, you ain't got one.

You need to move into the 5th Level Economy. That's where the new markets will be.

If you don't, then other countries will, like China and Vietnam, and then their workers will have the high paying research and lab jobs and your workers will get $10.50/hour running a Nissei plastic-injection molding machine to make plastic kitchen gadgets.

Actually .. I do have an idea. In 2000 - "Total" Military Spending was roughly 300 Billion. After 8 years of Bush was over 900 Billion .. topping 1 Trillion under Obama.

Had we maintained 2000 spend levels - increasing with inflation - 500 Billion/year x 16 years = 8 Trillion that could have been spent on technology, infrastructure, ramping up economy to compete in 3rd millennium. Instead we threw that money down the toilet .. fighting pointless wars on the basis of lies and propaganda .. to fill the pockets of the Military Industrial Complex Oligopolies.

Add another 2 Trillion to the total under Trump .. increasing the spend to 1.2 Trillion per year.. obscene.

Just a little perspective .. 82 Billion/year is spent on our intelligence services (spooks) .. another 50 Billion in the dark project budget = 130 Billion a year. This is double the entire federal spend of Mexico .. a nation 11th in the world in terms of purchasing power.

Then why didn't Putin lock up his opposition that had a much higher rating and not one that had only a 2% rating? What you're saying makes no sense, but you're going to accept it anyway because it's what you want to believe.

As for me, I have noticed over the years, that the best way to know what Washington and London is doing, is by what they accuse Russia of. Either they're projecting, or pulling a Saul Alinsky. Doesn't say much for them either way - nor for those who accept what they say. I guess it depends on what end of the moral spectrum one leans towards.

Unlike some others in our sphere,
to me Russia is: 'Mother Dear'.

So if you try to break her heart

and vilely try to grab a part,

thru devious means with lies and guile

which as we know is your style.

Then also know you'll suffer ill

and find it a very bitter pill.

As others have who came before

and didn't know what was in store

    for them - Jeannette

You still have not truly addressed what you quoted with this ^^ "response"(?). Why does Vlad have to incarcerate his political opponents?

When you prove to me that Putin incarcerated his political opponents, then I will answer. The only opponents I know of are still around.

Oh that's right, you must mean the ones the MSM are calling opponents - but are really not.

Back to the topic. As I said, the neo cons always win - or at least when it comes to wars and destroying nations. They've been pushing for a war between Ukraine and Russia, and according to the demands being made by Russia it seems that an ultimatum might be coming soon.

According to the translation of what was stated, and after mentioning all the transgression and provocations by Nato in the Baltics and Black Sea, Russia is insisting that Nato must show a concern towards the security of all the nations in Europe.

According to international law and the treaties signed after the Cold War, Nato cannot arm certain nations without taken the security of all the other nations into consideration.

Russia is now making certain demands and is insisting that these demands be met within a certain time frame. All in all, it doesn't look good for Europe. Hopefully Germany, which seems to have a little more sense than the rest of Europe will fully disarm and stay out of it.

Although this is a dynamic situation that is likely to change dramatically over the next couple of months, just to clear the air and provide an update from the BBC, here's 'statement' of what Biden said he'll "do", versus what he evidently "won't do":
    Link: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-56720589

"How far will the West go for Ukraine?

The US has made clear it is committed to helping Ukraine defend its "sovereign territory". President Biden spoke of imposing measures "like none he's ever seen" if Ukraine was attacked.

But he also stressed that deploying US troops unilaterally was "not on the table".

Ukraine says it is prepared to defend itself alone. "We will be fighting this war by ourselves," said Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba."

My own admittedly unprofessional, old-guy prediction is that by this time one year from now, Russia will have annexed Luhansk and Donetsk (at the request of the people who actually live in the Donbas region). What Biden seems to be offering as his retaliation if this happens is cutting Russia off from the ability to use a bank system for processing international payments called "SWIFT".

Not a bad prediction about annexation. But the people in the Donetsk Peoples Republic and Luhansk Peoples Republic (as they call themselves when they declared independence) didn't want to be part of Russia when all this started. They may hold a referendum and vote for annexation, but so far they have not. After all, Ukraine has not abided by the Minsk Agreements (which would integrate these regions back into Ukraine) so what do they have to lose?

Now Biden, being the idiot he is, may believe he can cut Russia off of SWIFT, but SWIFT is based in Europe and is privately controlled. That's the same Europe that pays for the gas it uses to heat their houses and generate electricity using SWIFT. So does any moron think the Europeans will ban Russia from SWIFT? What are they going to do? Drive pallets of cash to Moscow? Since they sanctioned Belarus, I suppose they'll have to take the long route around. May I suggest Ukraine, with its many potholes.

I've seen quite a few talking heads on TV with the "we'll ban Russia from SWIFT" sanction. They are clueless. Anyone, and I repeat anyone who says this is an idiot. But that's what you get with our fake news media.

And let's not forget that oil is traded worldwide on the US dollar....using SWIFT. Banning Russia's oil trading from SWIFT will be a death sentence to the dollar and the US economy.

As Putin recently said, "the US is cutting off the branch it's sitting on". Let's see what happens when the dollar is no longer the world reserve currency. I'm pretty sure it will look like Russia's economy when the Soviet Union fell.

Actually Donetsk and Lugansk did want to become a part of Russia, but Yanukovich who was in Russia and was still the legal president told them via TV, not to vote for it in the referendum. But instead to vote for special rights within Ukraine.

I believe it was in the video on Crimea that Putin said he wouldn't know where he would have put the demarcation line if Strelkov would have gone further into Ukraine, also that the two Republics were too intertwined with Ukraine. This caused a rift between them since Strelkov wanted to free Mariopol and Odessa after the Ukrainian army surrendered.

I also recall that the 2 Republics had asked at Minsk I and at Minsk II if they could become a part of Russia and Putin again said no.

Today the situation has changed since Kiev has cut off the 2 republics from everything, so they are almost fully integrated with Russia. The problem from what the Pres. of Donetsk Zacharchenko had said before he was assassinated, is that they didn't want to leave the rest of the Russian people in Ukraine isolated and under the thumb of the fascist government.

The junta in Kiev also knows that if the 2 Republics were to rejoin Ukraine, they would lose their power, and this is probably why they refuse to comply with anything in the Minsk agreement. It seems Kiev wants to hold on to the wealthy Donbas areas since they were supporting the rest of Ukraine, but without the Russian people living there.

The only alternative therefore would be to ethnically cleanse the Russians - which is genocide. The Ukrainian army continues to shoot missiles at the civilian areas in Donetsk, and this past week Putin finally called it genocide.

The talking heads are as stupid as Nuland and the rest of the neo cons - who seem to be running the show. Even I know that Russia has been preparing an alternative to SWIFT from the time of the first sanctions. Putin and Xi who have been friends for a long, long time will now be creating their own monetary exchange between them.

All this is certainly true and the red portion is analogous to the terrorists in the Gaza Strip randomly launching rockets into Israel. Ukraine is doing the same thing except with heavier arms. I've seen the results....people in the city center of Donetsk with half of their heads missing from shrapnel. That's the Ukraine US taxpayers say are the 'good guys'.

Sending US troops to Poland and Romania (and the Baltics??) will not result in fighting with Russia unless Russia invades the EU.

No change. We are still likely to bolster our troop presence in Romania and Poland if Russia expands their invasion deeper into Ukraine.

No. Every one of those poll options is wrong.

Option one and two are wrong because they pretend that there was a threat to send US troops to Ukraine. There was never such a threat.

Option three is wrong because sending troops to Poland and Romania (and perhaps also the Baltics) is a pretty big deal. Sending lots of arms to Ukraine so they can continue to defend themselves is also a pretty big deal.

There is no backtracking. The US remains likely to station US troops in Poland and Romania if Russia expands their invasion deeper into Ukraine.

Choice #1 is wrong. It presumes that there was a threat to send troops to Ukraine when there never was one.

We will be ready if China chooses to start a war with us.

Yes. Stationing troops in Poland and Romania (and perhaps the Baltics) is a good move.

No it didn't. We are still likely to station troops in Poland and Romania if Russia expands their invasion deeper into Ukraine.

If Putin does not want US troops in Poland and Romania, he might want to reconsider expanding his invasion deeper into Ukraine.

Most people don't bother to repeat Russia's propaganda about the people who they victimize.

Too bad for Putin. No one cares what he wants.

It's pretty unlikely that Germany will choose to disarm in the face of Russian aggression.

We are preparing ourselves for war with China. We'll be ready if it comes.

That's because it is Russia propaganda. Russia always lies about the countries that they invade.

Biden will also provide lots of weapons to Ukraine. And he will more than likely position US forces in Poland and Romania.

Yes. Those are the people who America proudly supports.

    No one said otherwise.
I didn't write the article ...complain to the Guardian

I didn't realize China was starting a war with us ... you talking Trade war ?

Pointless move ... waste of money.. Stationing troops for a war we will not fight ... casual observers .. That would be rather humorous come to think of it .. war going on in Ukraine .. troops in Romania looking on... how stupid would we look .. that big show of force ... .. sending some casual observers .. Fun stuff.

Putin don't care about a few casual observers .. Put Troops in Poland ... Romania .. US/NATO have had bases in Romania for decades - what is new about that .. Putin just wants the ABM's gone ...destabilization of nuclear detente' .. and no your laughable nonsense about Iran is just that .. these ABM's are capable of attacking Russian ICBM's .. regardless of what the latest Pentagon fairy tale says they are for.

Tough ABMs are no threat to Russia.

And before you say it, I don't giver a damn if the Russians base a bunch of ABMs in Mexico or Cuba.
