Florida lawmakers advanced a bill that would allow parents to sue schools if staff speak to students about gender identity or sexuality

The legislation, which advocates call a "Don't Say Gay" bill, says parents can take legal action against a school district if Florida teachers speak about LGBTQ topics like identity and sexuality that do not fall under "age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate" guidelines for students.

The bill says it protects a parent's "fundamental right to make decisions regarding the upbringing and control of their children."




What the hell is wrong with Florida????

 

I’m a parent and live in Florida and I like this law.

 

Why would school need to talk about gay people? Am I gonna look at this bill and this is more about trying to indoctrinate kids into believing they are trans? And putting and end to that bullshit?

 

Good little second graders don't need to be taught about all manner of perversions and flavors of.... Whatever the hell it is.

 

It’s not even about gay people.
Schools should not talk about sexuality and sexual relationships with kids till they are ready, which should be when they are in high school, and even then, only in the framework of anatomy, biology, and basic sex education that teaches about contraception.

 

This sounds like a stupid law. But I should point out no less stupid than laws that allow an individual or a municipality to sue gun manufacturers when somebody uses one of their legal products to commit a crime. Or that you can sue an Uber driver for driving someone to an abortion clinic. FFS we are losing our minds.

 

Students in America should not know about gay people?

Basically what the law is about is upholding Parental Rights to dictate how/what/when their children are taught certain things. It is also about keeping parents informed about their child. I see nothing wrong with it. But we get it, progs don't like anyone but themselves having a say....in anything.

 

So? Lots of things exist yet aren't talked about to primary school children. That's a rather lame excuse.

 

Doesn’t mean that kids that don’t know what sexual relationship is should know about them. When they ask when they see a same-sex couple a basic answer “they are friends” is sufficient. Introducing such concepts to very young kids can result in confusion and psychological problems. If a kid is gay, they’ll figure it out on their own. If they are transgender they’ll wait till adulthood to make a decision to permanently mutilate their bodies. To prevent gender confusion it’s best to guide kids into the way Mother Nature intended. You appease transgenders too much and you will have a significant rise in young adults with major psychological problems after just one generation. Besides, kids follow trends, and being gay or transgender cannot become a majority trend, so those kids will always suffer from the feeling of being a minority. There are always going to be popular boys and popular girls and kids watching their relationships as a sitcom and learn from their behavior.

 

I just read the bill. Exactly which part of it do you take issue with?

 

Will you do that for a heterosexual couple?

 

Usually yes, or we say future mom and pop.

Why do you feel the urge to talk about homosexual sex with 12 year olds?

 

That’s not what it says. It says the SCHOOL DISTRICT, not the teacher, cannot encourage classroom discussion on the topic. In other words, they can’t make it part of the required lesson plan.

if they want to talk about the subject with these peoples children they have to inform the parents first. I don’t see the problem.

What's your point? Should we be talking to kindergarteners about child pornography? I would hope you would say "no".

 

At 12 I think kids are able to understand that gay's exist.

 

All 12 year olds know they exist.
The concept is to be explained to the child by their parents when the family is ready.

 

They are capable of understanding child pornography exists too. That doesn’t mean they need to be inundated with it.
