'The invasion of Ukraine is suicide for Putin,' says Kremlin critic Mikhail Khodorkovsky

Exiled Russian Kremlin critic Mikhail Khodorkovsky said in an interview with FRANCE 24 from London that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is political "suicide" for Russian President Vladimir Putin, who "cannot win in Ukraine, even if he manages to take Kyiv or Kharkiv". This war is the result of an "emotional decision" by Putin, the former oligarch said.

Looks like my friend in Kyiv could have been wrong about this column being destroyed.
The good news is that it’s stalled with no fuel - Russian conscripts will run and leave all of that valuable stuff for use by Ukrainian armed forces.
Personally, i think sending such a column without well-organized supply chain is beyond stupid.
Ukrainian ministry of defense started to voice a suggestion to civilian fighters to not attack tanks - let them pass, but destroy supply vehicles. I guess, Russian taxpayers are arming Ukrainian army now. 8)

Nevermind - just noticed that the article is 1 day old.
Who the hell knows if that column is still there.

Well, I think such people should rather be in the prison, than giving talks on TV. This is a runaway oligarch, who stole the money from people. Who is interested in his opinion? That is kind of interesting, West welcomes oligarchs that oppose Putin, but ban the ones who do support him. Yet, in both case these are the thieves and all of them should be banned.

Good old Khodorkovsky. He predicted that Putin was going to invade when it was apparent that an invasion force was being assembled around Ukraine and that lying bloodsucker was denying it.

Trump calls the Russian invasion 'a holocaust,' urges Russia to stop fighting
    Wed, March 2, 2022, 8:01 AM

Former President Trump called the Russian invasion into Ukraine "a holocaust" and urged Russia to stop fighting, a large shift in tone since last week when the former president praised Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump's remarks came during a Wednesday interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, widely seen as a Trump ally.

The former president said Russia has "to stop killing these people" and suggested a deal could be worked out to end the conflict.

    ... https://news.yahoo.com/trump-calls-russian-invasion-holocaust-140103339.html

I only disagree with Trump on one point, namely that a deal could be worked out to end the conflict. Putin wants Ukraine and there is nothing less that he will accept, unfortunately.

One does not have to be a prophet to predict that if the forces are assembled around Ukraine, something is going to happen. Actually Hodorkovsky finished in the prison not because he was an oligarch, but because he tried to get into politics. Then Putin sent him to prison.

I don’t think this guy is right.
Right off the bat he said that the TV tower destruction was to hide Pootins crimes. The reality is that Russians live in a lie and they need to brainwash people into submission via TV. So, the tower was to limit the communications between common Ukrainians who participate in resistance - to make them believe that Ukraine is losing, so they start to accept Russian rule.
So, since this “analyst” couldn’t figure this part, I doubt he is right about the rest of what he is saying. I follow the updates on this war via social media feeds and it does look to me like Russian military is really getting exhausted, with no way to deliver fuel and even food to its troops in the field. Everybody needs to eat, many troops will end up surrendering just because they hit the point where they start to starve in the field. When you are really hungry your instincts start to kick in and no matter how brainwashed you are, if you need food, you’ll try to find a way to get it, and surrender becomes a viable option.

We'll see. I think we all know/predicted the hardest fighting is yet ahead.

This assessment is from war correspondent Bill Roggio:

Putin is NOT crazy and the Russian invasion is NOT failing. The West's delusions about this war - and its failure to understand the enemy - will prevent it from saving Ukraine, writes military analyst BILL ROGGIO

Are the Ukrainians already hitting their supplies hard? Certainly a brilliant strategy if so.

    Yes they do.
Also, today I saw a Russian soldier that surrendered and was eating like he hasn’t seen food in days. Ukrainians are saying Russians were given just 3 days worth of food for the mission. This is day 7 - many will hit the point where they just can’t keep going very soon.

    Ukraine Conflict Update 12
    Mar 1, 2022 - Press ISW

Institute for the Study of War, Russia Team

With The Critical Threats Project, AEI

    March 1, 2022

ISW published its most recent Russian campaign assessment at 3:00 pm EST on March 1.

This daily synthetic product covers key events related to renewed Russian aggression against Ukraine.

    Key Takeaways March 1, 2022

    • [CORRECTION] Russian President Vladimir Putin likely moved Russia’s nuclear alert status to their highest peacetime level on February 27, the second of four possible levels.
    • The Kremlin admitted Russian casualties in Ukraine for the first time but announced an implausibly low number of killed or wounded.
    • Ukraine combatted Russian information campaigns while the Kremlin continued censoring information in Russia.
    • Anti-war protests in Russia continued on March 1 despite mass arrests and government censorship.
    • European Union (EU) countries are set to expand SWIFT sanctions as more private companies suspend operations and services in Russia.
    • NATO and EU countries continued providing military aid but reneged on promised fighter jets for Ukraine on March 1.
    • Private companies and Western governments sanctioned Russian state-affiliated media to combat Russian disinformation and propaganda on March 1.
    • European and Ukrainian leaders advanced efforts to quickly admit Ukraine to the EU on March 1.
    • Russian forces are setting conditions to envelop Kyiv from the west and attempting to open a new axis of attack from the east that would let them encircle the capital. It is unclear if Russia has sufficient combat power to complete such an encirclement and hold it against Ukrainian counter-attacks.
    • Russian forces will likely launch a renewed ground offensive to seize Kharkiv following the air/artillery/missile attack it has been conducting in the past 24 hours.
    • Russian and Russian proxy forces will likely solidify the “land bridge” linking Rostov-on-Don with Crimea, allowing Russian forces to move more rapidly from Rostov to reinforce efforts further west.
    • Russia’s successful seizure of Kherson city may allow Russian forces to resume their interrupted drive toward Mykolayiv and Odesa.
    • Belarusian forces have likely entered the war on Russia’s side despite denials by the Belarusian president.

Key Events February 28, 4:00 pm EST – March 1, 4:00 pm EST

    Military Events:

Russian forces are completing the reinforcement and resupply of their troops north and west of Kyiv and launching an envelopment of the capital likely aimed at encircling and ultimately capturing it. This effort will likely accelerate in the next 24-48 hours. ...

Former head of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan Alnur Musayev said that Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan gave in under pressure from Russian President Putin and agreed to assist him in the war against Ukraine.

According to Musayev, the authorities of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan at a confidential level expressed their readiness to provide Russia with military equipment and ammunition. Also, Russian is moving some of its contingent these Central Asian countries to Ukraine.

Well, another article I posted said they don’t have the supplies. Both articles are 1 day old, and things change by the hour, so who knows. Ukrainians seem largely not concerned about this column.

"Not much concerned about this 60 km column" you say .. in some desperate attempt to do who knows what. Last time I checked .. folks were leaving Ukraine in droves .. going to hide in other countries .. due to concern about the column.

Need to up your game .. cause this was desperate and lame.
