lol, we all end up in the same place as all roads lead to the same place, some just take the scenic route judgment.... as in the jealous God's loyalty test? what if you're not a loyal worshiper? you think good people are punished? don't worry, you won't be punished for choosing to believe the "wrong" religion, that is just to scare you into believing
Consideration of possible causes for the existence of the primordial cause is a moot issue due to the limitations of the available range of perception. Also, there may be multiple levels of existence that are undetectable by us and our devices; they are inaccessible to most of us who are not psychics or OBErs. Leave the pondering of domains and dimensions to superior intellects. Your first choice is reasonable.
Tell yourself what you want to believe. But there is belief and there is truth. God is real, and he does live. At some point, either in this world or the afterlife, you will know.
I quoted it because you asked me too because allegedly you weren't familiar with it. Now you proclaim yourself an expert on the verse. You can have all the suspicions you want. They don't make you correct.
I understand some things. I understand that you know that "what's God's cause" is a follow up question, but I don't know whether you think that is just a detail that can be left unanswered, or whether you think it means that God isn't a good resolution to your concern about the origins of the cosmos. I do not understand how you get from the concern of the cause of the cosmos to the conclusion of a god whose cause you don't know. I'm not trying to be arrogant, I believe all the questions I've asked are reasonable questions to ask. I wouldn't have thought it'd be on topic for a thread on what draws you to religion, but I'm happy to provide any info you think is useful. Do you have a particular topic in mind? I'm a fan of common epistemology, linguistic descriptivism, to some extent Rawlsianism.
No. You said God is evil because he said so and so somewhere in the Bible. I asked you to be more specific. You posted the chapter and verse as you should have in the beginning. So I read the whole chapter and rehearsed it to you for your benefit so you'd understand it better. You can't take a few words out of context and give those words a new meaning without revealing what's in your own heart and motivation. What you said isn't what the Bible says. It's what you say. Therefore it isn't in the Bible. Why do you lie in broad daylight and think it won't be seen. That chapter is an expose of the Jews digression from enlightenment to degradation by their own choices and conduct, and Gods hand in the matter. It is a testimony that all of our blessings in life come from him. Whether or not you can see or believe that, is something else. But that is the story. For gosh sakes, whether symbolic or literal, God never told them to eat their children. Sorry but you'll have to find another avenue to fault God. At least have the salt to put down your own pride, admit your mistake to yourself, correct course and carry on. My advice to you, to others and to myself is, don't pick fights with God. It won't end well. Then again, it might be better than apathy, because to be vanquished by God is to be near to the divine.
god and gods are evil.. that's the designation for th e fallen angels,, you know, Satan's crew. GOD is good. He gave his only Son (actually a part of himself) to remove th estench of our sin before being in his presence.
You say "God is Good" then you say "God is Evil" - which makes no sense. You then say God gave his only son .. as if God has only one son .. when the Bible tells us God has many sons and that not all of these sons have fallen from grace ... Satan in particular has not fallen from grace according to the OT. Not sure where you are getting this from but you need a better source as much of what you are saying is backwards . so sounds like your source come from a deceiver.
Thats right mate ... Faith don't give one a free pass through judgement .. will do you no good at the pearly gates .. is your deeds that will be examined .. and on that basis one will pass or fail.
Didn't miss that at all .. its called "Assumed Premise Fallacy" ... one who missed the point is you .. God has many Sons .. call them gods if you wish .. call them emanations from the Godhead if you like (like was done with Jesus in original post) it matters not to me. The claim that all these gods are "Evil" - is not supported .. and clearly Satan is not among the "Evil" Gods .. as they visit the Most High - in celebration .. Job 1 and Deut 32:43 - but for this one you need a translation prior to the Masoretic Text (MT) and last .. These sons of God are not "Fallen Angels" -- a well parroted trope..specially in fundamentalist circles but also mainstream - but has no basis in serious Theological or Academic Circles .. especially given up to date modern scholarship .. such as having translations of older bibles .. archaeological and historical texts.
Of course you missed the point. And then you disrespected him by saying he made no sense. lt won't hurt to own it and apologize instead of doubling down.
He didn't make any sense .. which was part of the point .. for reasons given in my post .. which you are desperate to avoid .. doubling down on denial
