The Russian rouble strengthened on Monday, firming past 77 against the euro to a near two-year high, helped by tax payments that companies are due to make this week (but really helped by the fact the EU is paying for commodities in Rubles) and as the market looked ahead to a central bank rate decision on Friday.

By 1453 GMT, the rouble had gained 3.6% to trade at 77.25 versus the euro, earlier clipping 76.96, its strongest mark since June 2020.

The rouble was 3% stronger against the dollar at 73.17

Ruble is not a convertible currency. The current exchange rate is the result of Russia implementing currency restriction laws similar to those in the USSR.

 

It doesn’t look like he’s got any savings left after his prior investment.

Yep, and that’s why I said, the rate could be 1 to a million, or a billion, or a trillion - nobody buys and sells. Only those who absolutely have to will buy the currency and the fake exchange rate will translate directly into an expense that settles on the Income Statement. All this will achieve is scare away the rest of the western businesses that are doing business with Russia.

 

I think yuan would be a world currency. US has too much debt. If China decides to sell all the US stocks, dollar will become a toilet paper.

True. It was called speculation.

 

Actually the Central Bank of Russia tries to keep the ruble from gaining too much in value, since it would raise the price of its exports and they would lose their competitive edge. What it does show though, is that our dollar is losing value, something the world has been wanting for a very long time. This way we wouldn't be able to sanction nations at will, and wouldn't be able to print money to finance our wars.

From the time of the first sanctions on Russia, Putin responded by limiting the use of the American dollar. Yet Soros and the neo lib/cons controlling our government have been so bloated with hubris and their own invincibility, and so blinded by their anti Russian and anti Orthodox Church passions that they're willing to risk our lives and welfare - as well as the lives of everyone else in our non ending wars.

They are driving our nation into a hole that we won't be able to pull out of. Not that it matters to them, they're probably hoarding the billions they're making from the wars and their shares in our military industrial complex and converting them into yuan and rubles themselves.
