A modern nation cannot sustain a standing military of more than 1%-1.5% of its population. Meaning that with a population of 48,000,000 the absolute largest military that Ukraine could sustain would be 735,000. Probably less though.

Let me give you a run down of events. When 300 protesters from Crimea in support of Yanukovich returned from Maidan in Kiev, the buses were stopped and burned at Korsun. The people were harrassed by neo nazis for 8 hours, 7 were killed outright for refusing to speak Ukrainian, and 30 are missing and presumed dead. The police did nothing.

Crimea at the break up of the Soviet Union was an independent country. It was illegally occupied by Kiev in 1995, so when the Crimean protesters got back from the pogrom, they asserted their independence again and asked the Russian troops stationed there to protect them while they held a referendum. In the referendum they chose to unite with Russia as protection from Ukraine.

After the fire and massacre of the protesters at Odessa collecting signatures, Donetsk and Lugansk decided to hold a referendum so they too could unite with Russia, but Vladimir Putin said no because they were too integrated with Ukraine, and he wouldn't know where to put the demarcation line.

Yanukovch who was still alive thanks to Putin and still the legal president of Ukraine, told them not to vote to unite with Russia, but to ask for special rights in Ukraine. After the referendum, Poroshenko instead of speaking to the Republics, he began to bomb and kill them. This is how the war began.

Unfortunately the video showing the bombing of the administration building in Lugansk, and the people lying around is not available anymore in the US.

As for the fire at the Trade Union bldg. the videos can be found at Counterpunch unless Youtube cancelled them too.

Well if you're supporting neo nazis in Ukraine what do you expect him to think?

There are a lot of smart people in Germany though, otherwise they wouldn't have come out with this great bit of humor.

It's been news around the world repeatedly. Too many people for it to be a coincidence.

Historically it fits, too. What about all the millions that were persecuted died under Stalin.

I didn't post it because of the source. I posted it because it contains the videos, and that's what I assumed you wanted so you can draw your own conclusion.

Of course if you prefer being told what to think, then be my guest.

I don't know what you mean around the world, because the opinions of events and personalities by 78% of the people in the world is way different than that of the consolidated West. Otherwise they wouldn't be going against the West and supporting Russia.

As for Stalin, well I know that many of those he eliminated, had killed over 40 million Christians, so they probably got their just reward. Besides that, Stalin saved the Russian people from a sure genocide by the Nazis, so let's start giving credit where credit is due - unless of course you have an embedded hatred towards the Russians and want them all dead.

The situation would have been a lot worse for the Russian people if Lenin had lived, or if Trotsky was his successor.

I know they're not stupid and have their own self serving agenda, otherwise they wouldn't be so indifferent to the lives and suffering of others.

Oh God! Were back to the missiles again.

The non nuclear anti-balistic missiles that are too few in number to threaten Russia and which are orientated towards the threat of a limited missile attack on Europe from the Middle east. The ones that couldn't stop a Russian attack if they tried because Russia has way more missiles than the NATO site has interceptors.

From a couple weeks before the Odessa Massacre. As you can see, the "anti-terrorist operation" has already started.

This was before Poroshenko's election. Yatsenyuk was in charge of the putsch government at the time.

I don't think getting out more means sending my money to a communist country that imprisons their own people who disagree with the countries leaders.

Think on this at the start of the war, a Russian officer says one day, all soldiers were told to surrender their cell phones. They were then ordered to enter Ukraine and fight a war. The Russian soldiers had no idea who or why they are fighting, only that they are ordered to fight. Now, you are telling me that Russia is more free than the USA. That is pure delusion in my mind.

You and the other Russian trolls that post here can paint whatever picture you want of this communist utopia you all appear to adore, but you won't win any sympathizers with your slick talk. I doubt anyone can be won over to a country that forces their soldiers into fighting a war and oppressing their own people. That is not freedom.

Your knowledge of Russia is sealed when you start with the commie crap. Linking CNN damn sure doesn't help.

Talking on a cell phone is a good way to geolocate someone....good place for missiles to find. Or can't you figure that out?? Guess not.

Certainly no shortage of useless talking points in this thread and you didn't disappoint.

Some of the strongest proof that RuZZia is getting its clock cleaned, well, other than literally thousands of videos, is the fact that the pro-Putin members here in PF are screaming like crazy and insulting others right and left. Why, one could almost say that their higher brain functions are leaving them in a lurch.

    It's sad.

    https://ria.ru/20220523/import-1790066605.html

Imports in Russia decreased to the levels of 2020. Russian economy now is equivalent to economy when the whole world was on the lockdown. Almost all supply chains in Russia are paralyzed and they’ll need to figure out how to rebuild them under severe sanctions. Severe inflation and widespread shortages are on the horizon.

    Nice commentary/fake news.

Do you think people can't read the article? It doesn't say Russia's economy is like that of 2020. And considering I just got back from there, I can attest first hand as to their economy. It's doing just fine.

All supply chains paralyzed you say? From the article:

"Against this background, the transportation of goods through the eastern and southern borders of Russia , in particular China , Kazakhstan , through the Caucasus , has intensified, Davydov said. Infrastructure is actively expanding in these regions, in particular, the checkpoints themselves and access roads, he added."

This came from Kremlin-owned news site!
    In Russian, first sentence:
He says the imports are on the same level like it was in 2020. That lockdown economy was not sustainable, but Russia has no way out of it now. Rapid plunge into extreme poverty for Russians is just unavoidable, even if Pootin dies tomorrow.
    0405D7B1-C895-40C3-82C1-7A3DF6B6D70E.gif

The world can make do with Russia completely fenced in. Russia cannot go on like that for much longer before stuff starts to irreversibly crumble. Their airlines will have to start cannibalizing their aircraft for parts within the next 3 months.

Even before this debacle Russia's economy was barely larger than Australia....but with almost 6 times the population.

    Third. World. Country.
