And so we have gun laws and a lot of them won't and don't stand up when measured against the Constitution. Laws effectiveness is governed by their acceptability. You know, like laws outlawing marijuana. The second amendment doesn't offer alternatives or work arounds, it states strong lines that shall not be crossed but we have genius word miners that spend their lives working at it. This society will one day give up their guns because of who controls the messages and systems that deliver them. Somewhere down the road they will have cause to regret that decision.

The firearm fanciers need to lose the macho mystique.

Treat guns like automobiles - potentially-deadly tools, of which you can have as many as your heart desires, that are registered, regulated, and for which competence must be demonstrated in the public interest.

Whimpering "Big, blue meanies want to take my precious shooty away!" every time decent Americans demand the lethal permissiveness end is pathetic.

Not only did he do precisely what he criticised unrerefenced people for doingbu he showzd himself to be one of the stupidest people ever given à microphone.
    Look at reality.
Shooter is fully armed and knows what is happening.
Teacher , gun in desk, could be anywhere in the classroom full of seatzd students.
Shooter looks for teacher and instantly kills him/her over or through that crowdzd classroom. Then is free to do what he wants.
Or if by any small chance teacher can use a weapon, the shootout is in the présence of 30 kids in full panic mode, in à confined space, up against walls and Windows and mown down like the Russian Royal Family or killed under desks because they can't get out and have no escape anyway.
Is Trump so stupid that he can publicly say such impossible réalités and think anyone with half à brain would agree???
What bizarre and utterly disconnect from reality is he and the NRA selling???

    Let's confront the relevant specifics.

Do you think that the Second Amendment guarantees the right of every 18-year-old to acquire as many AR-15s and as many hundreds of rounds of ammunition as he desires, or do you think sensible restrictions, such as those supported by most Americans in the interest of public safety, are appropriate.

I'm sure all the mass shooters (killers) will be happy to demonstrate their competence for the public interest followed by more mass shootings. Automobiles and airplanes are being used to kill people too. Maybe we should look back to when these shootings started and see what changed because guns in America have been around since forever. I'll start with the introduction of the internet (social media) and very explicit shooter video games have certainly played their role in these mass shootings.

Tell that to à lunatic who fully expects to die in the act.
I doubt if anyone would bothered taking him to court...

You have been disinformed. The Cumbria massacre occurred 14 years after the Dunblane gun ban. There have been many others.

You think car owners don't have a macho mystique?...lol

Gun owners, without any formal classes, are many times safer and more responsible that motorists. Please, tell us you don't really want gun owners to exhibit the same competency level as motorists...LMAO!

I believe someone posted that 321 people are shot by a guy, every day? Correct me if that's incorrect. Well, there are 17 THOUSAND auto accidents per day in the US. There will be 7,500 injuries and 99 fatalities, PER DAY.

So yeah, gun owners are waaaaay more responsible and competent.

If you mean the Uvalde shooter, he didn't intend to die. He was wearing body armor and took defensive measures once he was met with opposing force.

Your enthusiasm for permissiveness does not reflect most Americans' support for sensible regulation. Whining impotence in the face of continual firearm massacres is not acceptable for most decent folks.

    Yes.

Millions of 18 year olds own a semi-automatic rifle with a detachable magazine and hundred/thousands of rounds of ammunition and have absolutely no intention of murdering anyone.

The Uvalde shooter is what, .000000001% of 18 year olds that own an AR-15?

Some do. That is one of the reasons Americans are not pushing for more permissive automotive laws either.

Where do you derive your data, or are you making it up?

Why do you believe that all 18-year-olds are entitled, under the Second Amendment, to acquire as many AR-15s and hundreds of rounds of ammunition as they fancy?

Americans will do business with anyone. Other than that Europe is just an odd curiosity for most of us. NATO was created to prevent Europe from becoming a host for the Russian Communist Empire -- self interest not affection.

Even after the Great Rapprochement of 1915 FDR and Churchill had to overcome Americans' hostility for the UK to form an effective alliance against Nazi Germany.

    "American Anglophobia[edit]
American sentiment towards England and the British Empire was harshly negative for much of the 19th century.[1] Enmity between the two nations, largely driven from the American side, had peaked amid the American Civil War and the Trent affair. After 1872 and the settlement of the Alabama claims, direct hostilities declined. However, other incidents, such as the Murchison letter and disputes over borders and fishing rights between America and British Canada, stoked continued American popular resentment toward the British. Americans considered Britain their "natural enemy" and "prime villain," though acknowledged closer cultural and political affinity than with mainland European nations.[2]" Wiki

the second doesn't list an age or limit application, we do that with our laws. If you are sending 18 year olds to war then they are old enough to enjoy full citizenship rights, don't you think? Sensible is open to different interpretations and definitions.

Pixie, check your dates. The American Revolution was a catalyst to the French Revolution, and the French Revolution was not a revolution at all. The French Constitution, which the French ignored, was modeled after the COTUS.

"You really should refresh your knowledge of American history" -- and French History. :)

Perhaps the permissiveness proponents who enable mass killers might be assuaged by a Trump effigy at every public assemblage.

Firearms were banned when Trump pandered to the NRA jamboree in Texas (consistent with his whining about absentee ballots while casting his absentee ballots.)

A simulacrum of the Cry Baby Loser at every event might serve to justify the shooty boys leaving their guns at home.

Sawn off shotguns are legal in the UK?

Again, the 1996 Dunblane Gun Ban did not stop the mass slaughter of helpless disarmed British subjects.

It's a right. That's why. Until they abuse that right, they're free to own a semi-automatic rifle and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Just like people are free to own a car that can go 100 mph.
