Why don't we admit the obvious and split the country into two?

So you don't like it when people respond to you in kind?

    So noted!

    Oh, you think?

Or maybe I'm being unfair? Maybe nasty and vituperative is closer to the mark?

We have states anyone can live in or move to. We don’t need to split the country. People can just move to a state that hs laws they agree with. If they want loads of illegals, poop on the streets and tent cities they can move to that paradise. If they want to live where you can’t have an abortion an hour before you’re supposed to give birth becsuse you got cold feet, then go ahead. People can move where there are high taxes or lower taxes.

Or they can simply leave the country completely.

I don't want them to be anywhere close; they couldn't resist harassing the rest of us endlessly. This is America. EVERY American citizen owes a certain amount of respect and support to the country and his fellow citizens. If you can't do that, you aren't qualified to be a citizen... and should be moving to some other country.

The idea of buying Greenland was on the table once. It's about 25% the size of the US, it has only 58,000 residents. We by the island, ship all malcontents there, one-way tickets. Bring all Greenland citizens here, grant them citizenship;. they share in the price paid for the island.

Oh- and some people should not have the choice to stay here regardless of promises. If you've proven yourself an incorrigible political nuisance, off you go...

Evidently they're your buddies now..... Buddy.

As we can see it's you fringe left-wingers who are calling for a traitorous and seditious secession .

You might as well go on and get you a Southern pride tattoo and a rebel flag!

    Do we harass Canada endlessly?

I'm sure it's a lovely place but I barely give it a second thought.

Mutual agreement isn't traitorous sedition. Even you saw some of the potential benefits a few pages back.

The only problem is it's a fantasy that no one's going to agree to accept a few of you fringe here on the forum

And it would be a huge failure. Remember Chaz....

    https://www.city-journal.org/end-of-chaz

Or later it was called Chop. It was a huge failure because it was ran by lefties.

Oh I get that it's really just a talking point but it's one where at least I've seen some forms of agreement across the political spectrum.

I don’t know how many people noticed the loophole in the OP.

Basically when someone in the blue country gets hungry, or tired of the violence, or fed up with squalor, or tired of rolling blackouts they will just cross the border and be undocumented aliens. They can work and send money to family members back home etc. Just like the citizenship process for border crossers today. :)

The people we are talking about are hardly the class of Canadians- and they prefer to harass Americans. Let them do that from Greenland, where they would soon splinter into adversarial groups and fight among themselves..... then they will be happy.

I think, on balance, they'd actually be a lot like Canadians. They seem to want mostly the same things. If anything they'd be slightly to the right of that.

No, but they should not be limited arbitrarily.

    Who said arbitrarily?

States are not just administrative arms. That's why they have legislatures, courts, governors.

I'm not sure what's so hard to understand or accept related to a federalist system.

Having about 12 of my family being Canadians living in Canada and regularly knowing their views, their values and objectives-
I'd trade the liberal/progressive lefties for them any day.

Two's not enough. We need to split into 6 to 8 different countries.

But aren't they to the left of most American "lefties" to a considerable degree. They have socialized healthcare, support LGBT rights, have even more abortion rights than we had under Roe?

From a policy perspective, most on the right here would be calling them commie, pinko scum if they were another US state but, since they're a different nation, we give them a pass and actually think they're kinda cuddly.

    Such a beautiful land though.

Canadians aren't trying to force their beliefs onto others. They are not totalitarians. Lefties in the US can learn alot from them.

Lefties would have to learn how to learn first. They have an emotion, declare it reality and react by blaming it on someone else. Don't see much hope...

What LGBT rights aren’t offered here? And which Abortion rights aren’t offered here? Sure we don’t have socialized medicine but Americans don’t go to Canada for life saving surgeries. Canadians always come here. We might go there for drugs, but that’s because WE subsidize Canada. Canadian drugs wouldn’t be cheaper if we weren’t paying more. And Canada wouldn’t have socialized medicine if they had to actually spend an appropriate amount to defend themselves.

That’s how it works. Canada knows we will always protect them. Canada knows we’re right on their doorstep for better doctors and superior care. So, you’re welcome. :)

The hard part is accepting a federalist system.
