Open debate, search for knowledge lack of discrimination, freedom of choice, honesty, equal opportunity that is based on merit, not money , and à rejection of conspiracy theories. I don't think opinions about gender are indicative of the left/right position. It has nothing to do with economics, and neither does ones faith. Left/right is about class, the economy, and the seed bed where people can achieve their potential. ISTM too many in America have added , one after the other , articles of opinion you have to swear to in order to become à member. Most of them are irrelevant add-ons and prevent having à mixed basket of opinions without a label. ISTM it seems America has forced itself into tribal warfare ...potentially dangerous....where the initiation rites include oath of conformity. Sad dumbing down of individual réflection.
Tell us if you agree with this statement: "To each according to his needs, from each according to his means"
Someone once answered that question for me saying that the Right believes in top down and the Left believes in bottom up. I can see that but it is far too simplistic. Sadly, the definitions people have today are far more polarizing.
Communism is an economic theory. And communism never rejected leaders. There were always those who organised the communes imaginez by purist communists, and were practise in Kibbuzism and American communes of the mid20th century.
I did. What didn't describe is your misunderstanding of the concept. I havent seen à single true description of the left from you in all your elephantine généralisations.
Assuming that you live in the U.S., who have you voted for in the last 3 Presidential elections? Who did you vote for Senator and Congressmen in the last 3 elections? I suspect this will cut through any rhetoric and ultimately provide you with the answer that you seek.
In the most basic of thoughts, that is very close, I agree. Much depends on where one sees the majority of their personal growth coming from. Internally, is usually conservative. Externally, is usually liberal. Just my opinion.
As i said it is nuanced. You will have to define welfare. For example I think it reasonable to pay taxes tovfund those things that one company alone will not invest in because it doesn't make a profit...social services, the pilice and fire service, fundamental éducation, the judiciary for example. No company will invest because they dont make a return. Yet they are absolutely essential for the welfare of everyone. And since everyone benefits, then everyone should chip on to pay for it.
Ah. So I am wrong to think it is the right who have set out on a path to restrict personal choice. Silly me.
It only exists in textbooks. It has never existed in reality. And in fact the nirvana of communism is that the producers /workers own the means of production.
The leftist in Senate/Congress arnt the ones voting against Finland and Sweden, joining NATO, they arnt voting to take away woman's rights, and they most certainly arnt voting for more government subsidies for oil companies like the right demands.
It is illegal in the UN convention on Human Rights and in your Bill of Rights. If I thought I saw it I would bring it to the attention of some legal experts.
