I am as distressed as anybody at what's going in our country but I do not, will not and will never condone violence. Option #1 is always the voting booth.. Option #2 is a Dr. King/Ghandi civil protests as I have a constitutional right to lawfully and peacefully petition the government for grieveances. So when is violence is ever 'justified'? incontrovertible evidence that there's brownshirts beating up my fellow neighbor. When the government goes after every citizen, republican or democrat without just cause that is when we stand in self defense. Basically, if the government ever goes full Hitler on us, only then.

In fact, at this point, I think it kills any chance today that dems have in midterms. Raiding a home over records, wow you just can't make this stuff up. I'm not sure the top dems have any idea how much of a joke it sounds to raid a president or political opponents home for records they admit they've been working with the trump team on. I hope they find something, so he doesn't run that's the only shot they have at this point.

 

Every single past president has done the same thing. Bet on it. Also the claim the partisan Democrats have made is that the material was supposedly being mishandled. Yet the FBI previously reviewed how it was being stored (in a double locked room in a safe) and their only advise toimprove security was to put a 3rd lock on the door. So it sounds secure and this is likely just partisan political garbage because dems are desperate.

BYW political prosecutions cannot legally take place with in 80 days of an election. This stunt occurred at 81 days before an election.

 

I find it a paradox that the same FBI that 'looked-the-other-way' when Hillary Clinton clearly broke the law regarding classified information, and refused even to refer her to the Attorney General for prosecution, should go after Donald Trump like the Gestapo-on-steroids -- making certain to raid his home while he was in New York.

But, to be clear -- if Trump committed actions that demand charges be brought against him, THEY SHOULD BE! Still, as it is, we don't know if Trump broke national security laws or not. Clinton, however, did definitely break them, and I'll never understand why she waltzed away from any consequences of any kind, but Trump is getting the 'under a microscope' treatment....

Yes, it is UNPRECEDENTED to have a former President who is a thug and has no respect for his function nor for the Constitution.

 

It appears that Conservative tears are saltier than Liberal tears.

Smart people know that the bar for such a legal action is very high.

I believe that is not a settled issue and it certainly would not have been something the Federal Magistrate would have signed off on this.

Not that high, while they did go to a federal court this time instead of FISA. After what the FBI did with Crossfire Hurricane(opps, sorry, 'mistakes were made' ROFL.) no conservative is going to trust anything that's not released. Certainly not over record-gate which is funny as all ****. (Also, I raised a novel argument against the 1978 Act. I think it violates the President's personal records, pursuant to those laws(4th Amendment)and the reason is reinforced with the 14th Amendment that says we all have the same privileges. So unless "the President" is a second class citizen, Presidential records and personal records should be treated the same and were treated as such prior to the 1978 dubious law.

 

To be clear, I'm not a Clinton fan. But, ask yourself why she was not charged during 4 years of Trump administration. Could it be that there wasn't enough in the file to indict her?

Trump getting the "under a microscope" is laughable. You should update your information: he was illegally detaining classified documents and refused to return them.

Trump knows exactly what they were looking for and has a detailed list of what they took. All he’s got to do is turn it over to the press.

I can understand why he announced the raid without the significant details, fund raising. Which he started last night.

I can understand why we won’t be receiving details from his camp, again fund raising.

Poor timing by the DOJ if you’re deluded into believing this was political. They just gave a favorable news cycle away.

 

So, from what I hear, Trump took classified documents home that were supposed to be turned over to the public archive and weren't. I know it sounds fishy that classified documents would go to a public archive, but that public designation just means it's government property. It's a bureaucracy thing.

I'll remind you that Trump, as far as I'm aware right now, is not charged with any crime, is not blamed with using the classified documents for nefarious purposes, and is innocent until proven guilty.

 

What you think is irrelevant; a federal judge handed the FBI a search warrant. for documents he was illegally detaining. These douments could be very important and could bring new elements for the Jan 6 Committee. Don't forget he attempted a coup to stay in power despite having lost the election.

 

And how do you resolve this paradox, in your mind? Considering that ALL handling the Hillary case were Republicans. The Attorney General, the FBI director, Congressional Committees, the President... Not to mention that Republicans had control of SCOTUS, Congress,, the Presidency...
