Just to correct your thinking: Repubs can win two of those, without getting the majority. OH, which I think Vance is already being designated as winning, was already a Repub seat (retiring Rob Portman's). NV, assuming that Laxalt wins, represents a gain of one, for the Rs. But PA, should Fetterman prevail, which is looking fairly likely, would counteract that Dem lost seat, with picking off a Repub seat. Back to 50- 50, as long as Warnock ultimately holds on, in GA. So Rs would need to win three of those four contests.
She hasn’t lost, yet. She’s Behind, though. It also looks more and more like Fetterman is going to win. Strange night.
Trying to convince the country that drag queens are teaching third graders how to have anal sex is just not working. Perhaps Americans are getting tired of ridiculous exaggeration and hyperbole.
The mail-in ballot system is simply not functional for a democracy. The idea that a race(and conveniently close races at that) can be paused just like that, simply does not bode confidence for the people. I have no doubt about the integrity of the people working these polls, but the system as a whole is unworkable by design. People for example wanted to re-do their ballots but couldn't.
The en masse portion of it causes serious delay problems though that instantly degrade confidence. Imagine for example if Oz gets a surge, i'm going to predict Democrats will be none too pleased. I'd rather us have online voting than the mail-in mess, at least online voting can be tabulated in real time and without cause for alarm. Just use a .gov protected website accessible to the people.
Well I'm sure Abrams will throw a fit....you know.....just like last time. Dems have been whining about elections being stolen for over 2 decades....you should be use to it and expect it.
disagree, mail-in ballots are an important part of democracy but I do not think it will ever go away, the rich and powerful do not want to stand in line for hours to vote
The key is to know how each state counts mail in votes. In Florida, they can be tabulating after a vote has been verified. In PA, they don’t allow anything to start until Election Day, which really slows down the processing. In 2020, Biden had a nice lead in Florida for a short time, because those totals went in immediately. Those are mostly D votes. As same day votes came in, his lead disappeared. No sane democrat was claiming their early lead guaranteed the win. Each state is different.
That might be fine for the rich and powerful, but thousands voting this way has in two straight elections, caused a mid-pause and that will always arise uncertainty, whether fair or not is besides the point. Since it raises uncertainty, it doesn't really work for the people. We need election reforms that assure we get back to confirming and announcing winners in a timely fashion.
what's good for the rich and powerful is also good for the working class and the elderly personally I vote in person, but maybe when I am elderly, I will vote by mail also here, voting takes maybe 5 to 10 min max
Maybe I didn't pay as much attention but for most of my adult life, we were able to confirm the elections and I'm just saying I'd like to get back to that, where we can have real-time counting and results.
Fetterman just called ! https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/20...m-2022-john-fetterman-wins-election-rcna54935
I think it’s incumbent on people in 49 states to trust that the 50th state is being honorable in their intentions to accurately count the vote.
