Source? In terms of long-term cognition, I have only seen that a heavy and chronic user will have a decline in cognitive function (like a third of a standard deviation). These effects were observed with at least weekly use over two years. These effects were not observed with lighter use than that, but showed dose-response at higher doses. Cognitive effects in midlife of long-term cannabis use - Harvard Health

I'd also caution that it could be more of an opportunity cost. Somebody who is spending much of their free time getting high isn't doing cognitively enriching activities...

    No you weren’t.

Below is your post to me. You clearly meant me by the word ‘You’
Agree with what? Your claim about how the left would react to your entirely made up scenario? I don’t tend to agree or disagree with any made up scenario. I typically only deal in things that actually happen. You know, real examples. If you want to come up with some real example, as in something that happened then let’s talk.

How many out of the 10 you mentioned were an overdose death? Why are you unwilling to talk about these 10 young folks after starting a whole thread about them?

Some drugs are a problem, this thread isn't about one of them.

So you don't care about over 100,000 people dying from overdoses every year.

I don't know who "you guys" are.
So, to you, when a fourteen year old uses drugs and dies, it is no less tragic than a fourteen year old getting killed in a school shooting.

You should talk to a parent who has lost a child.
    You sound like a user.

Why does that not surprise me?

There are numerous studies on the effects of pot on young brains. I recommend you google it and read a few.

So is aspirin, that doesn't mean it is relevant to the discussion about fentanyl overdoses.

What's better for a young brain: an edible or a projectile?

you sound like someone who has never used.

It's like people who are afraid to touch a gun, telling you that a 9mm is dangerous and should be banned.

100,000 people are not dying from marijuana overdoses every year, and overdoses from narcotics have nothing to do with the subject of this thread. You just moved the goalpost completely out of the stadium, across the river, and into the parking lot of an abandoned Arby's.

Why should be a choice. Try to avoid both.
Absolutely true. I also gave up alcohol several decades ago. I did not like what it was doing to my thought process.
With generally positive effects if done in moderation.

The OP says they are equivalent. They are not.

Drugs have positive effects if done in moderation? Interesting.

The point of this thread was to point out how the left and the media ignored pot and drugs in general while at the same time emphasizing school shootings. Just because the example is weak, does not make the point any less valid.

If you aren't willing to talk about the 10 kids in the OP, then maybe you aren't ready for this thread.

I could find nothing in the OP which said they are equivalent.
Well. At age 85, which is longer than any other member of my family has lived, I give considerable credit to prescription drugs.
