Real life isn't TV - it takes more than 60 minutes (including commercials) to investigate an incident like this.

 

It was all over the news; I saw reports on national news from ABC and CBS within hours.

 

Mild to moderate distress is the only kind of "overdose" that you are going to get from pot.

 

Your outrage over these people who choose to take drugs abs overdose is fake. You couldn’t give two craps about these people.

 

Being violated by others gets more press than self harm. Not surprising and true with both liberals and conservatives.

Did you know that suicide is more common than murder? Most don't know that because murder gets far more press.

 

They didn’t need medical attention.

They would still be fine today if they hadn’t gotten medical attention.

 

They needed a first aid kit containing Cheetos.

 

The number of booze related deaths went down during prohibition.

 

Break Funyuns in case of emergency.

 

Of course you also might "overdose " on those wonderful peanut butter filled M&Ms...

 

Strictly speaking, those M&Ms are probably more dangerous than any pot edible. Higher likelihood of allergic reaction (potentially deadly), and even just the risk of insulin shock is probably more dangerous than pot

 

What if you include deaths related to bootlegging?

 

Is anybody else noticing the irony here? Conservatives call for small government and less interference in our lives, to the point that they want people to be allowed to carry deadly weapons openly, making themselves threats to other people, but then call for big government and a nanny state making sure people don't smoke weed. How do you square that?

 

There is also irony in people who mock "gun grabbers" for not knowing minute details about different firearms, but seem to lump weed edibles in with fentanyl.

 

Exactly. Conflating a pot edible with fentanyl makes about as much sense as conflating a BB gun with at .357 magnum.

I would have thought that more people would have died during Prohibition from toxic home made alcohol and "Bath tub gin".

It's also likely that people stopped reporting that their family members were drinking alcohol once it became illegal. So alcohol related deaths were undoubtedly underreported.

I don't think there is any way that prohibition actually saved lives.

 

And being killed by the mob these laws created!

 

Neither do the drug ODs die voluntarily.

 

I try to be consistent in having as little government intervention in our lives as possible.

In other words, I support a woman's right to chose, I support decriminalizing cannabis and strongly support the 2nd Amendment.

 

These kids even didn't OD. They weren't anywhere near the dose that would meet the definition of an OD.

 

You can what if it it to death. I don't consider past failures a reason to not try.

 

So we should try socialism then.
