    Do I surprise you?

Obviously, I'm still repulsed by the individual, but you have to admit today that Trump has become the greatest ally the Democratic Party has ever had.

I had a doubt about his ability to influence the results during the midterms, but obviously I am now totally reassured.

The Republicans are in a sea of s*** from which they aren't about to emerge.

If Trump wins the primary, he will be easily defeated in the presidential election, and if he loses, he will start his own party... and still give the country to the liberals.

I thought he would need the minimum support of at least 30% of conservatives in the country, but I'm now lowering my expectations.

If only 15% of the core MAGA remain loyal to Trump, the Republicans have no chance of advancing their policy agenda by at least 2028.

Even after the midterms, MAGA members refuse to compromise with moderate conservatives in the House, dislocating the Republican majority's strategic advantage.

Considering that the demographics are unfavorable to them and the complete inability of the Republicans to self-criticize, this party will have to wait patiently for Trump to die before considering an ideological overhaul that will allow it to attract voters.

In the meantime, the Democrats will govern the destiny of this country for many years to come.

    Thoughts ?

I do not think Trump will win the Primary, the question is, how far will he go to blow up the Republican Party for not being "loyal" to him

Trump is not a graceful loser

    @Arkanis @FreshAir

Murc’s law, for the uninitiated, is the widespread assumption that only Democrats have any agency or causal influence over American politics.

one example is that the megamaga candidates did not win repub primaries because they were endorsed by trump, but because they were funded by the dnc and voted in because of the massive crossover vpte of democrats in the repub primaries.

I am convinced that Trump will start a new party if he loses the primary.... and he will claim that it was rigged.

If so, it will be a massacre for the GOP in 2024.

Starting a new party or even running as an independent on short notice is not so easy. It takes a lot of organization and I'm not sure Trump will have what it takes.

Just for the Midterms, he raised $145 million and he wasn't even running.

The MAGA are for him an almost inexhaustible source of income.

Agree he won’t win primary and agree he is not a graceful loser. He’s one of the biggest pu55ies I have ever witnessed when it comes to accepting a loss. Look, it sucks to lose. I hate losing and don’t know anyone who likes to lose. But at least accept it like a man and learn from it. Eventual champions learn more from losses than wins.

I don't know, it seems to me that his grip on the GOP is quickly fading. It's strange that the lost election of 2020 and 1/6 didn't hurt him. However, his undoing may have been the poor GOP showing in the 2022 midterms, and his recent NFT money making scheme.

Apparently, the Trump voters don't mind attempted insurrections, trying to bribe foreign leaders for personal political gain, or efforts to overturn a legal election, but they draw the line at supporting a loser. And, with his recent primary losses and the pathetic NFT cards, Trump has painted a big, fat L on his forehead.

Now, most Trump supporters won't openly admit it. However, the mood is palpable that Trump's time is over. They might still claim to support him in public, but at the ballot box, they'll cast their vote for DeSantis. My big telltale sign is a Trump supporter on my street. The huge Trump flag was always out. After 1/6, it went away for two weeks, then it came back. Now, it's been gone since the midterms. Maybe, it will make a comeback, but if Trump pulls a few more of his loser moves, I think the chance is slim.

Of course, that doesn't mean that Trump will not try to take the GOP with him on his way down. A graceful loser he is not.

Not only that. Pro-Trump counties have 2-3x the death rate of pro-Biden counties.

His co-conspirators want to save themselves so more are volunteering to provide info.

Perry wrote a detailed outline on the planned coup for a book. A judge just allowed release of that information which will out more traitors in our midst. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/12/16/trump-jan-6-perry-00074379

I quite like their profound stupidity. Saves a bunch of time for investigators.

P.S. Garland needs to be fired sooner rather than later.

Dems can also thank Trump for helping us with our midterm and localized 'get out the vote' campaigns. Some of our natural constituancies have historically had a bad habit of only showing up once every four years. It does not even matter now whether Trump himself is on the ballot. Young voters, black voters, hispanic voters etc are showing up in record numbers to vote out MAGA candidates.

It turns out that Obama and Clinton cannot hold a candle to Donald Trump in unifying and driving Dems enough that they show up regularly to vote. The 'stable genius' is incredibly effective.

Well, in my view, taking any pleasure out of Trump, in the sense that he might make it easier for Dems to win, is perverse.

remember, if he is the nominee, it is possible he could win, and if he did, he will continue to destroy the country.

In my view, the sooner this crook is incarcerated, the better America will be.

A Trump comeback is highly unlikely.

He could actually win the Republican nomination, especially because the rules allow a candidate with no more than 30% can win.

But there is no way he will ever become POTUS again.

Currently, 56% of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of him.

    That's huge.

You have my tin foil hat spinning on that one.

Got proof that the Democrats funded MAGA candidates in the GOP primaries?

Trump is forever fleecing his supporters. To quote a great movie line:

"If god had not wanted them sheared, he would not have made them sheep." -- said the actor Eli Wallach in the original version of "The Magnificent Seven"
