517 thousand jobs in January. Lowest unemployment rate (3.4%) since 1969.

Who would've thought Joe could pull this off. I didn't. And I voted for him! I thought he was better than Trump, but just somebody to hold the seat for a few years before getting a better Democrat into the White House. Maybe I was wrong and he IS the real deal. Who knows. Time will tell.

If people have jobs, they have money. And, of course, people with more purchasing power. In our capitalist society that means businesses look for ways to take that money away. So they increase prices and we have inflation BUT... people have money! Don't lose sight of that. This means that poor people can AFFORD food and clothes. Maybe not Oscar de la Renta... But at least they can replace the Walmart brand pants that they've been patching for years.

Of course he had the advantage of circumstance, coming in to office when the vaccine was on the cusp of being widely distributed, thanks to Biden and his team........(Trump was more interested in playing golf and spreading the Big Lie than orchestrating a plan for the coordinated national distribution of the vaccine).........so the economy was re-opening.
Today's unemployment number was actually not music to Chairman Powell's ears as he is trying to create less employment to slow inflation. Perhaps the strong economy is the reason The Crazy in the House is concocting ways to sabotage it.......like failing to raise the debt ceiling.

What specific policies did he institute that you think created these jobs?

Presidents don't create jobs because they don't hire anyone.

And how many of these jobs are covid jobs just coming back online?

We'll just ignore the fact that there's no supporting link...

Do you get credit for making the jobs when you helped take them? Odd way to measure.

I think we actually deserve a link because he's making a very specific claim.

Giving your opinion without a link is one thing, but making such a very specific claim requires very specific evidence

While there are still naysayers out there predicting doom and gloom insofar as our economy is concerned, the facts say they are dead wrong as things stand now. The Biden economy continues its strong pace, and inflation is on a downward trend.
    ***********************************************************************************************************************************************************

Republicans no longer want to discuss the economy. Can you blame them? The economy is all bad news for Republicans. The Biden economy is on fire.

ABC reports, "For nearly a year, the Federal Reserve has been on a mission to cool down the job market to help curb the nation's worst inflation bout in four decades.

"The job market hasn't been cooperating.

"Consider what happened in January: The government said Friday that employers added a sizzling 517,000 jobs last month and that the unemployment rate dipped to 3.4%, the lowest level since 1969.

"The job gain was so large it left economists scratching their heads and wondering why the Fed's aggressive interest rate hikes haven't slowed hiring at a time when many foresee a recession nearing.

"Friday’s report added instead to the picture of a resilient U.S. labor market, with low unemployment, relatively few layoffs and many job openings. Though good for workers, employers’ steady demand for labor has also helped accelerate wage growth.

"The Fed’s aggressive policy has pushed inflation down, but has had less impact on a resilient U.S. job market,

"President Joe Biden called the jobs report “strikingly good news" and asserted that his Republican critics were wrong in their warnings of continued high inflation and a coming recession and layoffs."

“Our plan is working,” Biden said, "because of the grit and resolve of the American worker.”

Biden did not "create" those jobs. People are going back to work in jobs which they left during the Pandemic. A lower percent people are working now than when Trump was president. The big difference is that many of them are no longer looking for work and therefore are not counted in the unemployment ratio.

Just to be clear, Biden didn't create any jobs, and neither did Trump. Even though the partisans try to spin it that way.

However, it DOES look like Biden didn't mess up job creation as much as the Trump fans would want us to believe.

The percent unemployed in Jan 2023 was 39.8%.(Biden)

BLS Definition of Employment To Population Ratio; Proportion of the civilian noninstitutional population that is employed

BLS Definition of civilian noninstitutional population; People age 15 and older who do not live in institutions, and who are not on active duty in the Armed Forces

Clinton’s highest Employment to Population Ratio; 64.7

    Bush’s highest; 63.3

    Trump’s highest; 61.0

    Biden’s highest; 60.2

Last, there no such thing as an employment RATIO

Call it by any name you want, but of the total counted in labor participation, only 60.2% were employed under Biden and 61.1% were employed under Trump.

When you think about it, they tout the low unemployment rate. What that means is that a smaller number are even bothering to look for work.

I see there is still no answer to my above questions... It is hardly surprising because no one can point to any policies he's instituted that improved employment

When a President has a significant and long term impact on the American economy, its a rare outlier event and it takes a long long time and a very specific set of circumstances. Joe Biden may take a tiny sliver of credit in three years that might grow larger in the coming years. The federal govt can mitigate some harm in a bad economy, and clear some overgrown weeds and fallen tree branches out of the path in a growing economy, but it really can't do a lot more.

I will say that his consistent, relatively moderate policies should provide a predictable environment and 'predictable' is a real virtue to the markets. Actually, I give more credit to the Fed at present than Biden. We might yet get that 'soft landing' the markets are hoping for.

yeah, but it's fun to rub it in the rights face after four years of Trump and his base saying he had the best numbers... now that Biden beat those numbers :)

the left helps the economy from the bottom up, the right prefers the top down approach

you give the money to the top, they do not need to create jobs to get that money, they already have it

Just more evidence that people believe what their phone, laptop, t.v., etc… tells ten to believe.

Please man, do some research on your own.

Now now, Trump didn't create more jobs. Obama did but Bush Jr. did not, Clinton did, more than Bush Sr. or Reagan but not nearly as many as Carter.
    I'm seeing a trend here.
