So you think that anyone who announces they are running should be immune from indictment no matter what they do

I don't know if it will or not, I wish this and other events/actions would push people to back more independent candidates.
I was just addressing the one issue the poster was bringing up, that's all.

Not sure, but it could. Honestly, I hope it turns enough Trump supporters off so that we can relegate him to the dustbin of politics, but there will be some who want to hang on to Trump for their own reasons. I think he's terrible for our country overall, but that's my opinion.

Why do you ask inane questions that have nothing to do with the Hitler/Stalin meme? :fishing:

Sounds like the meme hit a nerve.

Sounds like you didn't read the response. It directly addresses the lazy, dishonest meme.

And I wasn't arguing against what you wrote but bouncing of what you wrote,
"I don't see any indication that any of this will help Trump in an election, but I have seen some indication it will hurt him."

My apologies if you thought I was disagreeing.

Oh, yes, I read it. Your response to the meme proves to me that I did hit a nerve. Nothing dishonest about the meme at all unless one is an historical revisionist. Both Hitler and Stalin did have their political opponents arrested.

I never said that. Bragg is doing something even the FEC and feds didn’t do, they gave Trump a clean bill of health, but somehow Bragg is different. Being from the NYC area I read the NY Post, and long before this indictment came out they’ve been reporting that Bragg has higher political ambitions than just being a DA, that’s why he’s not tough on crime because the people who support him want him to be that way. Bragg is going to use this indictment and possible conviction as his number one selling point when he runs for higher office.

Remember, this is the same DA who charged a bodega worker with second degree murder for defending himself, yet after public outcry he dropped the charges. If he believed the murder charge was valid, then why did he drop it just because it was unpopular with future voters? Is he that shallow? Also, the guy doesn’t seem to have ever seen a felony charge that he liked, he’s reduced violent crimes to mere misdemeanors and let’s criminals walk. The people in NYC are complaining about crime and worried about their safety, but he’s going after a guy that does nothing to deter crime or improve safety.

So lets view the facts that we know.
    1. This was a misdemeanor charge that the feds and 2 DAs refused to charge over due to lack of evidence
    2. This misdemeanor charge is 2 years out of the statute of limitations
    3. To jump over the statute, it has to be converted to a felony for a federal campaign charge, this DA can't even prosecute.
    4. Sealed indictments are done so that the person being charged doesn't know they are charged until they are picked up. Its done to guaratee the individual doesn't flee.
    5. In this case, we have a sealed indictment, but was magically leaked about an hour after the GJ voted on it.
    6. Now we are going to indict ex-presidents and political opponents for 7 year old payments on an NDA that are misdemeanors?

I don't want Trump to even run. This doesn't do it. Now if the farthest you can see is just get Trump, I get your post. So the question is, where did you ever get the idea that this will be the last time this happens now, as apparently, the gloves have come off.

We are raiding ex-presidents homes over documents that could have been subpoenaed?
We are jailing individuals with claims of being violent insurrectionist until a video emerges that further proved the prosecutor hid this evidence from the defense?
We are sending 50 tactical FBI SWAT guys with boats, helicopters and CNN in tow to a 66 year old mans house in a predawn raid because of a possible witness tampering charge?
We are indicting political opponents over 7 year old out of statute of limitations misdemeanors that nobody would touch?
We are now able to pull IRS tax records on political opponents to use in the media for claims against candidates?
We have FBI internal operations looking for PTA domestic terrorist?
We weaponize 50 Forensic FBI officials, two dozen CIA officials, 14 Trump hating Democrat lawyers, 2500 witnesses and millions of subpoenaed documents because Adam Schiff claims he has documents in hand proving the president is a Russian plant?
But when we come up empty handed, nobody is held accountable?
We are imposing articles of impeachment the day a candidate is inaugurated because one party doesn't like him?

And you and your any independent voters you spoke with this morning think this is just about Trump?
    Interesting

It will help them only if (assuming he's nominated) Trump doesn't use the persecution to help him. One winning message is: "They are coming after you. I'm just standing in the way." He has to convince voters that that is true. The one disadvantage he has is the MSM works for the Democratic Party.

Thats would be because your view of the situation is very limited.

You don't see anything past Trump at all.

You probably should have responded to someone else, because none of the charges have been revealed, which means that almost everything you typed in conjecture, and some of it just false.
I'll wait until the charges are released to really take a look at them. I have a feeling many of the charges will be a surprise, and I also feel that there must be some solid evidence for the grand jury to indict for them. If not, Trump should have no problem skating on them.
My gut feeling is that he will be eventually convicted of some.
And your "points" read as if they are straight from a hard core right wing publication. I don't pay much attention to those.
Please don't tell me that's my problem...............

Bragg ran his election on the promise of going after Trump, which is the ultimate form of corruption a DA can engage in. Now that he's elected, the reports are that he is looking to charge Trump with a misdemeanor whose statute of limitations expired years ago. And to turn that misdemeanor into a felony, he is using a federal charge whose statute of limitations also expired years ago. And it's a charge that Trump was never even charged with at the federal level, let alone convicted of. Bragg has no authority to prosecute a federal charge in a state court. This is purely a political prosecution by a partisan hack going after the potential leader of a party he doesn't want in power. It's as simple as that. There is no other explanation.

Then maybe we have something in common! We both have limited view of things and neither can see past Trump.

    Nah, just kidding!
What is up with people on the internet assuming all kinds of things they have no way of knowing about?
