I didn't say I would prefer an execution. I said that I understand how it happens. You should know by now that I always support a trial according to due process and rule of law. That is always the best and most just way, in my view. But I have seen double standards here. Gilad deserves jail by means of collective guilt whereas Ghadaffi should be tried.. which one is it? Everyone should be tried. But that is seldom the case especially with dictators who go down the way Ghadaffi insisted on going down. He even said he will fight to the death. Lubya was always going to be a story. It is now one without Ghadaffi.
We are not expecting miracles. We know our first parliament will be a mess and are ready for that. Our next elections in 4 years will be the real one when Egyptians have time to learn about elections and rights. Everyone seems to think that a country which has been so brutalized for so long can work a miracle in a year or 9 months but we know better and will do it bit by bit. I hate to see Gaddaffi like this. This is not Islamic at all. I think we are all shocked to see this in the Arab world. Our region is in shock. Arab dictators remaining will also be in complete shock today much more so than after Mubarak. To tear at him like dogs, to strip his clothing off him in public with women and children all around, to execute him, to slap him around is soooooooo sooooooo against our culture. Today Libyans looked like US troops in Iraq with a trophy. An old man of 70 like that who was clearly mad and has been for a long time. A man who had no weapon to fire and was asking not to be shot!!!! That is not Libyans. I am shocked to see that from them. Really shocked. I am very worried now about Libya on our border. I hope the Libyans see sense and hand back all the weapons and live in peace but even Jibril I am sure cannot wait to leave his post because he knows that no one wants that job. He knows that the problems are just beginning in Libya. The easy part is over. The West are going to be working very hard to find their 'preferred' and 'acceptable' PM and President for this job.
South Africa was freed in 1994 and immediately got on with the business of democracy. They are an excellent model in how a brutalised people can - and must - rise above without harming others. You don't have four years of brutality to learn how to be just. I think that there is no such thing as Islamic here. You are forgetting that human beings will release anger in many brutal ways and I am surprised that, based on what you know of history, you would think that muslims are any different than anyone else.
yes and a very good lesson to be learned Never believe they are your friend when they tell you they are. Never trust them.
Sure, but that's the nature of the game. Every side has its rhetoric. The West couches things in terms of humanitarian missions and democracy, while the world outside of the West has its own equivalents. Gaddafi supported several of his own "extrajudicial killings", so I guess it's fitting that he received one.
We all believe you. For sure. A group of islamo killers like we have seen slithering out of the ME for years who never kill an unarmed man. Sooooooooooooooo, the people who would stone a woman for being raped by four fine and upstanding islamo dogs, would never be mean to anyone?? Let me get this straight; you/ Soros troll are saying that people who blew up an airliner over Scotland are compassionate people? With the whole of islam being sooooo peaceful anyone off the street will be fine. SA is a much more dangerous place for whites and blacks.
Of course. At that time, politicians think twice before doing anything. I mean the Cold War when the USSR was. I do not call back in these days, but for Russia ashamed. We had a chance to support Gadhafi, the more that we had an economic interest in Libya. And now we have lost and political weight in the region.Shame.
The video tape released of Gadhafi is very graphic...he's still alive, bloodied and beaten. WHY are we allowed to see this, but not allowed to see the dead corpse of BIN LADEN?? Yeah, makes perfect sense.
lmfao @ all the people claiming he was killed so he wouldn't let secrets out. He could have recorded them all and put them on the internet. He could have told all these any time between when this war started and his death. He could have said them ANY TIME. They fact is, there aren't any. Keep on with your dumb little conspiracy theories however.
tell that to a dentist friend of mine whose father was shot in the head at traffic lights in Johanesburg as his wife sat in the passenger seat screaming the killer had no motive, no robbery, just walked up to the window and shot him dead in front of his wife and walked away
A) that's not true. There are loads of cases were we denied human rights even to 'our' western people. B) As far as I remember human rights are declared to be universal. According to these rights there is no such thing as human 'trash'. No matter how much you may like to bath in a deluded feeling of superiority, your life isn't worth more or less than that of anybody else.
Not true. "What the statistics tell us We have looked at several sources in an attempt to break down crime by race. Given the impossible task of accurately quantifying the level of serious crimes (including sexual offences and assault) using official statistics due both to under-reporting and poor or unavailable police data the best indicator we have to gauge the level of violent crime is death by non-natural causes, and homicide rates in particular. And while assaults and even attempted murders may often go unreported, very few murders do. In 2008/2009 18 148 people in South Africa were murdered. This amounts to 37,3 people per 100 000, or just under 50 per day.[21] The evidence we have examined indicates that the victims are disproportionately African and coloured working class people. Young men are also disproportionately represented in the murder statistics. We examined Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) mortality data to determine the breakdown of murders by race. Our analysis is inconclusive but it indicates that victims are disproportionately Africans and coloureds. Stats SA has released several mortality reports since 2000, one of which provides data on unnatural deaths broken down by race.[22] This report published the results of a detailed analysis of a 12 per cent sample of death notification forms from 1997 to 2001.[23] There is no specific murder category. Instead we examined unnatural deaths, which includes murders, suicides, motor accidents, poisonings, etc. The largest category of unnatural deaths is unfortunately titled Unspecified. Until 2000 unspecified was the largest cause of death overall, after which it was overtaken by AIDS. Table 1 shows the percentage contribution to the South African population for each race during this period. Table 2 shows the unspecified unnatural deaths broken down by race in the sample. As can be seen, the race groups are affected by crime in approximately equal proportion to their contribution to population. However, the data are very limited because an additional 13 946 unspecified unnatural deaths, i.e. 45 per cent, were classified as other or unknown race. Nevertheless, one category of unnatural death does indeed shed light on the relative proportion of murders per race group: death by assault. Table 3 shows deaths by assault for males broken down by race. This shows that African and coloured men are disproportionately affected. However, again an additional 432 deaths in this category were classified as other or unknown race. More compelling data come from the Medical Research Council (MRC). In an investigation into female homicide rates in South Africa in 2004,[25] the MRC used national mortuary data to determine that 2,8 of every 100 000 white women die as a result of murder, whereas 8,9 Africans and 18,3 coloureds meet the same fate. This shows, that at least for women, Myburgh is very likely wrong and the academics are right. Black women are disproportionately murdered. Another recent study by the Centre for The Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) analysed homicide rates in high-risk areas in Kwazulu-Natal, Western Cape, and Gauteng,[26] using a representative sample of police dockets. Of the sample 85 per cent of homicide victims were black, nine per cent were coloured, five per cent Asian and one per cent of victims were white. http://writingrights.org/2010/01/12...h-africa-dispelling-the-huntley-thesis/#_edn4
Crime is high. Still democracy is alive and well and no one is getting expelled for spreading Christianity.
We didn't capture Qaddafi. They did, and they released the video onto the net which was then picked up by our news. Our military didn't release the video of bin laden to the net, hence why it's not seen. Try to at least try to understand the differences. Our media WOULD have shown the footage, if it was released. Bin laden is dead, get over it.
