Should the Marines of urinated on the dead enemies? It may have been just a tad anti PC, and and worse, reckless. If were their CO etc, I would of allowed my boys to let off a little steam, so to speak, peeing on the dead in times of high stress and war fever is not too awful. Fallujah was not the same. Had these marines dragged Afghans taking food to Taliban insurgents from their donkeycarts and beaten them to death first and then desecrated the bodies it would be much more serious.

Publishing these kind of videos is motivated by a wish to demoralise the enemy however there is a great difference in how they are accepted. The Marines video is unofficial and regarded as a disgrace and something that should not have come out whereas the Islamists video is officially sanctioned and used as propaganda in their recruiting and training program.

 

The actions of the Taliban which can be a likley factor provoking such regretable actions by the marines is very much on topic. No doubt some marines feel this is punishment for barbaric actions by the Taliban which have otherwise gone unpunished. It also serves to keep the issue in perspective.
