We both agree that campaign financing must be reformed.

But we also have to examine what that would achieve. My view is that it would be nowhere enough.

Campaign financing is only one aspect of a wider disease. That disease is the grip corporate lobbyists have on the economy through their influence in government. They distort the economy and act as a brake on real productivity. They promote corporate greed, corruption and manipulate policy in ways that are economically non-, I would say counter-productive. They stifle the creation of productive businesses and broad political representation.

Campaign financing is only part of how they achieve their ends.

Well, I use to be a Democrat then I learned the Democratic Party hurts people more than they help them. They make people lazy and dependent. Here is some examples of Liberal policies.

    1. Against ID's to vote. They say making them get an ID makes it hard on the elderly and the poor. The truth is, not having an ID makes it much harder on them. Can the elderly get Social Security with out an ID? Can the poor get welfare without and ID? Can they cash a check, get a bank account, library book, go on a plane, out of the country, rent a car, etc?

    2. They are against giving tax breaks to business to move factories into the country. They want to tax business more to drive more out. What they don't drive out with higher taxes, they drive them out by wanting to force more unions on them.

Before the crash around the world, Ireland cut corporate taxes to 10%-12%. They had an 18% unemployment. They went from one of the poorest countries in Europe to the first and second best. At the time of the crash, the Irish were one of the highest paid in Europe. They made some stupid mistakes that has them in real hot water but those mistakes had nothing to do with their low tax rates.

    3. They have helped break up families trying to give them to much in things like welfare. We have spent billions on welfare since President Johnson started it and people are no better off than they were. As a matter of fact they are worse. Among the Black population, before welfare, people had it tough, but families mostly stayed together. Since then we have so many fathers and husbands that have deserted their families and left them to depend on welfare while they go and do their thing. That has hurt Black families, as there is no father figure there to guide the kids. You can see that in the rise of crime with Blacks. It's way out of proportion from other groups.

    4. The Democratic Party reminds me of a Mother that wants to be a friend to her children. Give them everything they want and don't sk anything from them. Well a family doesn't need a parent to be a friend. They need a parent. They need to teach them to be able to go out in the world and make it. To make better decisions for themselves.

    5. Democrats think Republicans only care about the rich and big companies. That's a lie. Most Democrats are richer than Republicans. But we know it's the rich and it's business that create jobs. We know punishing companies by forcing unions on them, more and more regulations and taxes only drives companies away. I don't know any poor people who has created a company lately, have you?

    6. I know Democrats have a lot of feelings for the poor. But I also know there has been at least two studies done that show Conservatives have given more to the poor in money, time and blood than Liberals. We just don't go around and brag about it or expect to give with other people's money.

Another thing. I constantly hear Liberals talk about redistributing wealth. Well I'm all for that too. But the best way to redistribute wealth is through jobs. Not stealing other people's money from them. We have always had the rich with us and before people didn't care, because we had jobs. But because of the stupid moves of our government over the last 20-30 years, those jobs are gone and the only way we are going to distribute the wealth that helps all of us, is to get jobs back and Democrats seem to want to do all they can to prevent that and drive more away.

This is what they expect. Not to have to work for anything. The government will provide it.

Here in Arizona it gets very dry in the summer and we have had some pretty bad forest fires. We wanted to put in some fire breaks in case more started there would be some flat land that a fire couldn't feed off of and it would be easier to put a forest fire out. But nooo. Our tree hugging Liberals wouldn't think of cutting down some of those trees. It would only go to big business and make some guy rich. Well we have lost a lot of our forest in the last few years because the fire spread so fast and there was no break to slow it down. Thousands of acres of trees are gone and hundreds of thousands were spent to fight it and no one made money off those burnt trees and it will be years before they will grow back. Just another do gooder Liberal idea that backfired and cost the state plenty.

Why do "liberals" still think that the government works for them, while they are in the streets complaining about who got bailed out and who got sold out?

The state works for the elite and always has. That is why liberalism has historically been a movement against the oppressive state and their partners, the ruling class elite who get bailed out while everyone else is sold out.

Statists are poor confused souls who consistently fail in their goals for more equality/fairness/liberty. Libertarianism is the true movement towards liberty. Statists try to achieve liberty through conservative means, the state. Democrats are right wingers, slightly to the left of classically oppressive conservative ideologies (feudalism).

Trouble is, the more Liberalism trys to do the right thing and fights the establishment, the more they mess things up. Believe me, I was a die hard Liberal for many years when I was younger. Until I realized that doing things their way does more harm than good. We can't keep the rich from getting theirs. But that's fine as long as we get some for ourselves. Driving them out of business or off shore helps nobody.

The goal is not to drive them out of business or offshore. That is the result and the goal of the state who work for whichever large corporations/special interests purchase their good will and help them shutdown the competition. And a result of the state imposing excessive taxation and controlling the market.

The goal is a truly free market. Just look what happened during the financial collapse, the largest banks were bailed out and became stronger than ever. The smaller competing banks were allowed to fail and they passed regulatory legislation resulting in smaller banks going out of business. That is the result of political/crony capitalism.

Like I said before, American "liberals" aren't liberals, they are conservatives in the classic sense of liberalism being the polar opposite of conservativism.

It's also a myth that the state is there to bust up monopolies. They are a monopoly and create monopolies. In the early 20th century, some of the more monopolistic corporations were about to go bust from the competition in a nearly free market. That's when they ran to the federal government to regulate the economy in their favor. Large corporations do not want a free market, they like a controlled market of socialism for the rich and failure for the rest.

    Such oddness is truly remarkable.

It was your "free market" that crashed your banks, insurance and auto companies in the first place.

And "driving" your companies offshore is spin of the first order. They went voluntarily and licking their lips because American labour was too expensive.

Which, of course, is an artefact of the "free market" you so admire.

We took off controls to the banks that we had in place since right after the Great Depression and allowed the banks to invest in all kinds of things. Controls that protected the American public so we would not have another Great Depression and look what happened. Although I agree that it wasn't all the bank's fault. But they played a big part in it.

You have to keep in place some controls, because greed will allow companies to do anything they can get away with to make money. They have no loyalty to America or to it's citizens. The only thing is, we must keep laws and regulations to a minimum to allow them to compete with other nations.

We need to help the poor. But I think we have gone overboard with to much of the wrong help and not enough in things like job training. We need to try and get people off welfare and make them productive citizens. Most people feel better about themselves when they are productive.

We have some companies complaining they want to hire, but can't find people qualified to do the work. Why aren't we working with these companies to provide training programs through their business, or a training school?

Yeah I agree with what you are saying. Let's make the people receiving welfare for an extended amount of time to take training somewhere. Make it mandatory.

When you just keep giving people things for doing nothing...
    1. It is very hard to then take it away
    2. People don't value it
    3. No reason to get out and actually work

Another way Democrats have screwed up this country is through our education system. They are so gung ho of protecting union jobs, it's next to impossible to fire a bad teacher. Why should a teacher have tenure? The only people I know that can get what might be called life time jobs is Federal and US Supreme Court judges. And teachers of course. Has anyone watched the program (Stupid in America) and seen what's involved in firing a bad teacher? It's ridiculous.

It's just not bad teachers, it's also bad schools. Many of our schools today have kids in them that continually disrupt the class so that other kids have a hard time learning. The Liberals fight against private schools and that is something we need more of. Maybe more competition will make public school work harder to teach kids. Money should follow the child and not the school so a parent has the ability to enroll there child in a school that will help them learn better. I challenge Liberals to take the time and watch this video and see the problems with our education system and see how we can fix it. Because your way of doing things isn't working.

I'll tell you another way Liberals have screwed up our schools that's not in that video. They have taken discipline away from the schools. I'm sure to protect our children from those mean teachers. When I went to school, they taught you not to act up from the first grade on up. If you did, you got a smack with the ruler across your hand or a paddling on your behind. Then a note was sent home to your parents they had to sign it and send back to the school. I'll tell you flat out, you didn't see kids act up then as you do now. You teach them when they are small and it will carry over when they get older and you don't need discipline. Teachers can teach and children learn better.

Instead of asking why people for Republican, I have to wonder why anyone would vote Democratic. The more you try and help, the more you mess up. Most of your policies have hurt this country and your not smart enough to see it. Your Party has got you blinded by thinking your helping to make things better and it only makes things worse. I know, I have been on both sides.

I don't say these things just to trash the Democratic Party. I know you people really care and want to make things better. But it doesn't. It only makes things worse.

It's not that I have any love for the Republican Party either. I have my problems with them too. But their policies are more in line with what we need to be doing. Although my biggest gripe with them is their stand on not taxing the rich more. They are paying some of the lowest tax rates in modern history.

It's time for both sides to quit trying to get power and do what's right for this country, or will soon see ourselves as a second class country with everyone passing us by. We need to quit letting them lead us around by the nose and demand they do what we want them to do.

How do you plan on doing that? They can put their money in another country. They can live anywhere they want. They have already taken ours when we allowed their factories to leave with no restrictions.

We can expropriate everything they own in America, freeze assets (treat 'em like Kadaffi) and encourage them to live elsewhere. The only reason they have taken "ours" is because we allowed it to happen.
