What repercussions did Bill Maher suffer for calling Sarah Palin the "C-word". Where is the outrage by the media? I don't remember the President admonishing him for that. Maybe I missed that.

How is this a good example of the liberal press? Why would the press have any authority over repercussions of Maher? What does the president calling someone have to do with the press?

Maher Responds to Limbaugh: I Can Call Palin C-word Because 'I Don't Have Sponsors - I'm on HBO'
    By Noel Sheppard | March 03, 2012 | 10:27

On his radio program Friday, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh called for President Obama to return the $1 million that Bill Maher gave to his Super PAC due to the vulgar things the comedian has called Sarah Palin.

Maher haplessly countered this on HBO's Real Time later in the evening saying, "Rush, I don't have sponsors - I'm on HBO" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary, vulgarity warning):

Not surprisingly, Maher began his monologue Friday with the media-created birth control controversy and Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke.

That of course led to him bringing up the current liberal hysteria over Limbaugh joking about her being a slut and wanting her to make videos for taxpayers funding her birth control.

"Today, Rush Limbaugh tried to drag me into this bulls--t he caused."

Maher then explained that he had recently given $1 million to pro-Obama Super PAC Priorities USA Action, and "Rush Limbaugh says I have to give that money back, or he has to give that money back - it's not really him, it's a Super PAC - anybody, somebody's got to give it back because, you know, I sometimes call Sarah Palin a bad name."

A bad name? As NewsBusters reported, he called her a "dumb (*)(*)(*)(*)" and a "(*)(*)(*)(*)."

He continued, "This analogy breaks down in so many places I can't even begin except let's just start with this - Rush, I don't have sponsors - I'm on HBO."

Predictably, the idiots in Maher's audience applauded this.

So, the line in the sand on decency is only crossed if you have sponsors? Without them you're free to attack anyone in the nation with total impunity?

Pretty preposterous especially as HBO has sponsors - the millions of people who pay for the subscription.

Also of note, Maher's C-word reference to Palin wasn't said on HBO. It was at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas thereby making his absurd sponsors defense completely moot.

But Maher not surprisingly missed Limbaugh's point:

RUSH LIMBAUGH: For those of you tuning into this program to find out what's going on, there is a central element of the whole Sandra Fluke story that you are not being told in the mainstream media. We've discussed it repeatedly here, but it's not part of the reporting in the mainstream version of it. But Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, just said that Obama finds the attacks on Fluke to be "reprehensible, disappointing, personal and crude." So I ask Jay Carney: Will President Obama now give back the $1 million donation that Bill Maher just gave his super PAC? You want to get some tapes of some things that Bill Maher has called Sarah Palin?

The C-word over and over again.

Bill Maher and some of his comments make me look like Romper Room, a choir boy. So will Obama be giving back Bill Maher's money? Not just Bill Maher. Look at how they have characterized Sarah Palin all of these years. The media included! I know Jay Carney will not be asked. That's why I'm asking: "Will Obama give back Bill Maher's money?"

    Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Consider, too, that Obama called Fluke to express his support for her given Limbaugh's remarks.

If the President is so offended by what Limbaugh said about Fluke - so much so that he actually called her - how can his Super PAC possibly accept money from a man that has said far worse things about a former governor and major American political figure?

Sadly, such thinking is far too complex for Maher.

    Pro-Obama PAC Won't Give Back Maher's Money

Current and former White House aides on Thursday rejected demands by a conservative group that a Super PAC supporting President Obama refund a $1 million check from comedian and talk show host Bill Maher because of coarse comments he's made about Sarah Palin and other Republican women.

While Obama earlier this week denounced similar comments that radio talk show host made about a college student, Sandra Fluke, White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters the president is not going to get involved in the Maher battle.

Carney said "language that denigrates women is inappropriate," but it is not the President's place to be the "arbiter" of every controversial statement.

"He chooses to lead by example or tries to," Carney said of the president, adding that "he chooses to try to practice that civility himself and he calls on everybody to do just that."

Earlier on Thursday, Penny Nance of Concerned Women for America sent a letter to White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew charging Maher is a "serially vile misogynist" because of a list of nasty comments directed at conservative women.

Nance noted that since Obama recently reversed his own opposition to Super PACs by giving his public blessing for Democrats to donate unlimited sums to Priorities USA Action, he should direct that the Maher contribution be rejected and tell top White House aides like David Plouffe to stop raising money for the group.

"As I am sure you understand, President Obama cannot put forth the eloquent position he announced on Tuesday, while sending administration officials out to raise money for an organization that not only counts a vile misogynist as its largest single donor, but whose executives actively boast about that vile misogynist's support," Nance wrote to Lew.

She wrote that the president needs to "publicly disassociate himself" from the PAC until they return the HBO host's money, adding: "If Priorities USA prefers to donate Mr. Maher's contribution to charity, my organization can recommend a list of charities that serve victims of domestic violence and abuse."

Bill Burton, a former White House aide in the early part of the Obama administration who now runs the Super PAC, also said Maher's comments have been "vulgar and inappropriate" but claimed it's different than the comments from Limbaugh.

"The notion that there is an equivalence between what a comedian has said during the course of his career, and what the de facto leader of the Republican Party said to sexually degrade a woman who engaged in a political debate of our time is crazy," Burton said in an interview on MSNBC. "There's no similarity about what Rush Limbaugh said, lying about the argument that Miss Fluke was making, a law student at Georgetown, and what a comedian has said in the past."

It's going to become a MAJOR campaign issue and Obama will end up losing the women's vote because of it. A week before the election we'll be watching Romney's super pack attack Obama on his double standard re Palin/Fluke.

Just calling a woman a c_nt is not political satire but only displays plenty of anger, something the left seems to be full of.

Believe me, I hope so. It would be great if you compare the two. Do it loud and do it often. Nothing would make campaign Obama happier!!!

Since the worthless OP didn't bother to post the Maher quote, here it is.

That's it. That's all. A comedian doing his weekly stand up monologue. His viewership is around a million a week. He's employed by HBO, a subscription movie channel. He insulted an individual. It was crass and certainly some were offended. Bill Maher has little if any political power or influence.

Rush has a DAILY political talk radio show. Its broadcast on the public airwaves. He boasts weekly listeners of anywhere between 15-20 million. The transcripts of his insulting shows on this topic wouldn't fit on this page. They go on and on over multiple days and are ongoing. He insulted an individual....and then expanded it to all Georgetown female law students....and then on to all women who use birth control. Rush is the leading voice of the conservative movement. He has tremendous political power. Republican Congressman who have made the mistake of criticizing him have crawled back with on air apologies......to a radio talk show host!!!

    OK I will try again.

Obummer can't give the money back that Maher gave to a PAC. It's not his money (technically), and he has absolutely no control over who gives money to a Pac, how the money is spent, or the content of the advertisements the Pac money pays for.

Is this too complicated for you people to understand??

It was retarded for Sarah to suggest it and even more retarded for Rush "the Lush meister" to continue the illogical idiocy. With retards like this leading the way is it any wonder we got Obummer in the first place???

And in closing, Obummer cannot demand the money be returned, it's (technically) not his to control.
