I wonder what the people of Afghanistan want for their future? Do they want what the Jihadist fight so hard for, or would they wish for something different, if only there was not such a threat of violent extremism?

I'm glad this mess is just about over with. Like most, I supported actions to get OBL, but it turned into something quite different than that...

As far as I'm concerned, it's not really our business what happens in Afghanistan, all America needs to do is protect it's own borders... primarily. Overseas conflict might be inevitable at points, but we should be more concerned about prevention and national defense.

My question though, is what do the Afghan people really want? Do they want freedom, or do they want to continue to live under hard line rule? I wonder what they'd choose if not for the threat of extremist.

It shouldn't matter to you what Afghanis want. They are tribal people who have their own style of living. Leave them to it and worry about fighting your own gangs and crimes. Why are you so worried about Afghani women when American women are in such a mess, when your own jails are filled to the top with criminals and murderers and rapists and pedophiles?
Afghanis did not breach your borders. You dont see Arab armies in tanks rolling down your streets. You are all conditioned and controlled by your media who is also controlled by the religious fanatics. They are your REAL enemy.

Leave Afghanis to deal with their own problems like everyone else and stop this obsession to save the world. Your lifestyles believe me are not always what we consider the best. Americans have actually less freedom than the average Afghani whose families and country you have ripped apart. You have successfully in every conflict you start set neighbour against neighbour. You create insurgencies because those you choose to employ are then seen as traitors and infiltrators and you are the ones creating civil wars.

For Gods sake learn from all your mistakes and go back home and leave people to deal with their own problems in their own ways.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, fantasy based nation-building missions premised on false PC multicultural myths and misconceptions about Islam are about as counterproductive and insane as saving Hitler and lifting up Nazis during WWII. Actually, that's a reflection of Leon Panetta and Barack Hussein Obama. Under sane leadership, the US military is still the best military fighting force in the world. However, it is only as good as its leadership and thanks to Obama, the leadership sucks today. Hence, if Iran plans to acquire nukes it has till the end of the year to get that done, after that the window of opportunity closes forever, as there isn't any way that Obama wins reelection. Just as predicted, he has been far too incompetent.
