Diabetic bracelets? Two of my family members are diabetics and wear their bracelets everywhere.

In this case, the coppers cleared the scene so good, the diabetic patent was dead before the EMT would have even arrived on scene. All in a good days work for the public servant, why even have EMT if all we need are steroid pump up cops mistaking a medical emergency for disrespecting the badge because cops would rather give a beat down than have someone disrespect them.

Why is it that you claim that it's only rational to believe the government agents, and particularly agents who are trained to lie?

Generalizing all cops based on the actions of a few is pretty ignorant. Sure some are corrupt but I think it's said that in this generation we idolize unproductive celebrities who are just "famous for being famous" like Paris Hilton, "Snookie", etc while making people who protect their country like cops and the military out to be the "bad guys".

Cops are the bad guys, they are the ones who will take away your right when they see fit. It happens everyday and the clueless want to stay clueless under the false sense of security but if your not a cop, the majority of cops would not hesitate to put a beat down on you if they felt so inclined to do it. Like they say you may beat the rap but not the ride and cops got nothing else better to do then (*)(*)(*)(*) your day up if they felt like it. I use to like cops and even donated many times to them but not anymore, my eyes have opened to who they really are, the ultimate government sanctioned click and if you ain't one of them, your a perp in their eyes. The best part, their unionized and your paying their salary for them to terrorize you and most folk are just fine with it.

Remembered when this happened as I said in another thread the police are under funded and over worked due the bad economy with the state budget cuts along with increased poverty related crimes.

They deserve some leniency from the courts when they overreact because 9 times of the 10 the guy their chasing deserves to be beaten and tazed because he did something against the law and resisted arrest.

Police don't intentionally go out to hurt people, they are sworn government agents of the state with a duty to protect and serve so this was a clear accident.

Most people say that, but if they feel threatened they'll still rely on cops for their own safety.

Killing the innocent should never be given a pass. Police have the authority to kill if threatened, this person was no threat to them and he is dead by their hand and there was no countability by the killers. These pigs deserve jail sentences, then a needle for real justice for the family.

Can't have it both ways we pay the police to enforce the laws so we don't have to, they are not perfect and make mistakes. This looked like an accident they thought he was the usual criminal resisting arrest and he did display it by driving erratically and not following their commands.

I'm surprised that such terrible drama has happened in the USA, maybe don't know this country well enough...
If this happened in Ukraine I wouldn't even wonder because in our country police brakes the law every momemt they want, because they know that nobody will prevent them of such horrible actions like this. I'm very sad that in the USA where human rights are respected there are people who breaks that all recpect to humanity.

Smelling the breath of someone whoi is suffering from a hypoglycemic attack has a breath that is smells very sugary with an aftertaste of dung. It is distinct from most illicit drug breaths. Second, police departments across the country are misusing the taser. The use of the taser should have the same requirements as if it was a gun. The key for any police officer is to secure the person. Once the person is secure, then they must check for medical id bracelets or to see if a medical emergency is warranted. This incident only forces the concept that the BPD are ill prepared and ill equipped and sadly that is the case for most local law enforcement agencies around this country.

That would be too responsible for many people.

That assumes the cops would even bother to look...it has to be more fun to pound on someone with a nightstick or blast him a few dozen times with a Tazer than to find a medical ID bracelet & call the paramedics!

Right. A head injury (say from an accident) can also cause uncooperative or violent behavior. But I'd reserve judgement in this case as there's too many contradictory claims going on to know what really happened. On the whole though a person struggling with cops shouldn't end up dead.

That's what we do in Iraq, Afghanistan and Lybia. Why not do it here?

    Or RFID chips?

Whether having a bracelet or not will not excuse the behavior by the police officers though.

I understand your point but I'm trying to work out where the evidence is for this claim. Is there video? Are there witnesses? I don't know and I'm a bit worried I might have missed something.

So there is some evidence for this, apparently? Thanks for the information. Now I want to know why something wasn't done about it immediately. I find it hard to believe that nothing was done. I'm not saying it wasn't, I'm just saying I'm bloody gobsmacked that something wasn't done immediately it was known. Jeez in my old force they would have been investigated by Major Crime and probably binned until the criminal trial.

Don't they used psychometric testing? MMPI? I mean Baltimore isn't exactly a small city with a small force. Having said that I accept some baddies can get in. But you know and I know that other cops don't like working with the baddies, unfortunately the code of silence stops someone speaking up until it hits the fan and then it's too late, the decent copper working with the baddie is collateral damage.

Police are not trained to lie. They learn to do so for survival in the system though.
