I had to spring the trap as I have things to do today.

Thanks for watching, and I hope that you were as entertained as I was. [IMG]

Well, you can get your knickers in a twist about whatever you like. I personally don't think her dance is a big deal at all. Not in the slightest bit.

Romney was a train wreck however. I say let him loose as often as possible. He might be unelectable.

The point (which you are trying to obscure) is she is unable to act like a civilized, mature adult when representing america on the world stage.

Can't believe the cons would be so stupid as to want to remind anyone of the complete trainwreck that was Romney's international tour. All that was missing from that trip was a pie in the face.

No twisted anything here. Just pointing out selective gaffe outrage syndrome. Thanks for helping out.

Yeah, a real train wreck who is ahead of the disaster from Chicago. LOL!

Selective gaffe outrage syndrome needs to be discussed.

You're treating this like it was some kind of masterful rhetorical victory. Like we "walked into his trap"?

I'm really getting tired of all the dullards on this forum.

    Serena's dance wasn't a gaffe, it was a celebration.

I don't think many people outside of the US even know what a Crip Walk is or why it is bad or good or whatever. I certainly have no idea what the significance is but bottom line is she won a gold medal and can celebrate however she wants. Many nations don't even have a gold medal. America apparently has so many they can complain about the people who win them...

Looked more like some dance to bring Queztlacoatl back from the depths of the the netherworld. All that was missing was the Blood sacrifice, but she was dancing Crip.

Except you're inventing one gaffe and the other one is real.

The Williams sisters did escape the Compton ghetto on their rise to tennis stardom, so it's not unlikely that Serena ever saw a "Crip walk" before.
However is there significance (beyond questionable sportsmanship) in her little dance? I doubt it. Nobody dislikes this prima donna/bully more than I do but I think making something more of this little dance than what it is (just the unseemly rubbing it in Sharapova's face, as I said) is stretching things, in my opinion.

It's no more petty than starting two or three more Romney bashing threads because they sent a horse to London. Have a liitle perspective, will you.

Exactly. Serena has never had class and grace, and never will. "Being happy" is not an excuse for such. Hasn't the NFL been penalizing end-zone dances for some time ? Same (*)(*)(*)(*) ... its poor sportsmanship.

Can we imagine Andy Murray breaking into a Scottish jig today after beating Federer ? Of course not. Serena, despite all her physical talent, is the low class of tennis.
